Is The Money Really In The List?

Hello Fellow Warriors,

One of the most pervasive statements in online marketing is "the money is in the list".

But is that really so? Could there be some other factors at work?

Let's take for example the results from solo ads. Solo ad vendors essentially charge you to send promotional emails to their list. In that way THEY make money from their list.

But why do you get four (4) sales from 200 guaranteed clicks from one vendor and zero (0) sales from 200 guaranteed clicks from another vendor with the same email swipe?

Another example: why would one person send an email to 1,000 subscribers and get zero (0) sales and another send a similar email to 1,000 subscribers and get 100 sales?

The above examples show that you could send a promotional email to a list and get ZERO money. So what else is at work there?

  • you need to create a sales funnel so that when a person joins your list, they are offered a product to purchase, that way you can recover your investment. You can also have an upsell/downsell, etc.

As far as results, there are several variables at play starting with the email you send out, the landing page (you need to split-test it to see which healine/graphics/options work better), of course the type of list, etc.

  • Well time is money here...You could setup a sales funnel and buy solo ads to get traffic to your landingpage...people will join and sign up with their email adress...so that is WHY you buy Solo Ads in the first place...this is not about: buying 200 solos and SELL 200 products at the same timeframe...

you should be able to setup an autoresponder...now THAT is where you actually can make money...you can send emails with all different kinds of monetising links in them... i recommend email submit offers, that is when you get paid a comission if you can actually bring REAL people to another landingpage from another affiliate...THERE IS LITERALLY TONS of facebook sites that you can search for: PAY PER LEAD keyword and you will be stunned on how much easy monetising methods are out there after you purchased solo Ad traffic!
  • The money is in the 'store'.

One day 1,000 people can walk into a 'store', and not buy anything... "Just Looking..."

Another day, the store could sell 3,256 widgets from the same traffic.

If you don't believe that the money is in the list, then you have an excuse not to start a list. Being able to REPEATEDLY market to the same people is the advantage of a list.

    • Hey LB,
The money is in the Subscribers that happen to be on your List.

I know what you mean, but I think people often times talk about 'List this' and 'List that' and forget that they are dealing with individuals not a List.

Just keep that in mind every time you are emailing your so called LIST

It will subconsciously help you connect with them better

  • I think Frank Kern said it best. "The money is in the value you provide to the list"

    • The "value you provide" and the relationship you develop with your subscribers.

There are some marketers whose emails I always open and read because I feel like I know them. I like them. And I trust them.

I invariably purchase products through their links even though others are offering bonuses.

  • In the relationship*
  • It's depend on what type of your list.. If they are list of buyers.., then it obviously the money is in there, if it's a list of freebie seekers, then you need to do a little harder efforts to make them help you earn money..
  • Yes, people aren't just saying it for their health

Of course, like one's ability to believe 'list building doesn't work' from the start

Won't get too far with a mindset like that
  • If you are trying to make the most sales for what ever you are promoting, I would send people to a sales page if you are using SOLO ADS. ( I can't say the same thing for pay per click ads)

What I found in the past 2 months, and numbers never lie, is that many people who opt into your list will buy right away right after they opt in.
  • There are a lot of factors at play with "the money's in the list" but here's 2 very important ones most tend to neglect. Of course regardless of either, you always should provide great value.

    1) Are you sending emails to a "freebie" list? In other words, did the people get on that list in exchange for something free (i.e free report, free guide, etc)?

    2) Are you sending emails to a "buyers" list? In other words, did the people get on that list when they made a purchase (i.e they pulled their credit card/paypal/etc and purchased a product/software/mastermind/etc that is related to what you're selling)?

Now just based on these two factors, which list do you think would be "on average" more responsive to your offer?

    • The list in question is the one you have built a relationship with NOT usually the one you have bought to immediately sell stuff to.

List building is still about relationship building so you can increase conversion rates...

Treat whatever traffic you get from somewhere else as 'COLD' traffic then look for ways to 'WARM' it up.

Traffic from solo ads is just that. You should not expect high conversions from it at the start until you nurture it.

Just my few pennies worth from my experience.
