Somebody share some tips on email marketing web design...

Hello WF.

I'm a web designer, been in business for a while...

Can I get some tips on email marketing for web design. I already experimented with it and sent a few cold emails to the business type I have the most experience with, and of course as opposed to when I did not have a good portfolio, almost everyone answered my email. Obviously it takes more then 10 emails to get a sale.

Can I have a few tips on pricing, keeping in mind I will do re design work for home builders, and what conversion rate per 100 emails I'm looking at doing this.

I really need some tips, and would love to hear from all of you.

All honest input appreciated.

I am not sure you can expect any sales from sending emails to people who have no idea who are you. The challenge with brick and mortar business is that they don't understand why they need web site, and they are not sitting in a office checking their emails.

They are busy with their business, dealing with clients, customers and patients.
To make matter worse, their web designer is probably their relative, and guess who is receiving emails? The person who design and manage their web site, and you are competition.

Now you see what is your main problem. You have to change the strategy.

You have to put yourself in your shoes, and convince them that you can make them more money. That web site you will design for them will make them money.

You have to be able to put skin in the game, and prove to them that web site will bring them new clients. You need to know what is their customer LTV (life time value), in another words how much is new customer worth to them in profit.

For example, if their LTV is 5K, and you can bring them 1 new customer every month with your web site, they will be happy to pay you 2K for month of your services, because they will profit 3K.

You can do their web site for free and charge them maintenance monthly. You can design web site and send them some leads, then call them and told them you send them. But you have to go and talk to them, sending only emails won't work.

I hope I gave you some ideas for starters

I can't really work with local clients due to a lack of business, in the type of business I am looking for. I'm looking to offer web design and maintenance as my sole service, so I can't meet in person, with far customers. Most of my customers are out of town, from Craigslist, but they came to me so that's a different story.... I want to reach out to my customers, due to the fact that when you find them yourself, you have much more control in guiding the customer, due to the fact that their not being guided by 5 other companies at the same time. You can't deny that fact.

You want to build an email optin list (google "permission based email marketing") of small business owners who have an interest in web design. Then simply educate them on the benefits of having a website (more clients, brand visibility, etc). Then after a few emails offer them your services.

I dont like the idea of "cold emailing". You'll easily increase your conversion rate if you lead targeted folks in your niche to your website. You can do this via paid advertising, social media, forums in your niche, and etc. How many sales per 100 emails? Nothing is definite. Just keep building up your list of *warm* prospects and email to them something valuable that will help them out. Then they will help you out by buying your services.

The best way in my opion is to build a email list via unique professional looking landing pages that request a vistors email addresses and name in return for information from you. Giving away a free product is a good idea too.

On ave a person will not not buy until the 5,6,7 review of whatever product you are selling. create set of auto responder messages that incite your readers to view again. To get traffic to your landing pages there are a multiple of resources. Of course organic traffic is the best, but solo ads and smart lists work too.

you determine a target, you buy a "list" with company information and contact, you develop a killer SERIES of emails, you cold e-mail. I would personally develop a mailing to this as well.

You might find it in your best interest to bring this subject up in the offline forum where you will get more detailed information.

Forget the list building crap as mentioned here... that only works if the prospect is IN the buying process. I get what you are saying you want to INITIATE the process, and control everything you can from start to finish!

        Best of luck!

Of course.. that is my goal... I have no problem finding perfect leads which i can resend the same email to, because I have a special technique which to find the exact same companies with the exact same website problems that would likely be interested in a website.

I also know how to get through spam filters 95% of the time , no matter what company it is.

Is it not better to drive people to your service that actually search for you? Sending unwanted emails seems like a waste of time unless you use some black hat tactics to send 1,000s at a go.

Why not join freelancer and build from there as well as other similar sites, even here has a warriors for hire section showcase your talent and I am sure you will get lots of work if you are good.

If you have a website and portfolio send me a PM I am always looking for front end designers.
