Very very low opt in rate on my content site (0.2%)

Hello warriors!

I am running a swedish website in the travel niche and I've finally started to build my list. I'm offering a free ebook with "Tips on how to get cheaper and better hotel stays". Right now, I have two opt in forms, one at the bottom of each article and one fixed at the top of each page.

I put up these two opt in forms about four days ago and so far I've only had 0.2% opt in rate (about 1000 visitors but only 2 have decided to opt in).

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I've tried to change colors, added a numbered list of the ebooks benefits, etc. I know that content sites and blogs usually have pretty low opt in rates, but 0,2%?!

I would be very happy if I could PM my url to someone who can have a look at my site. I can also translate the opt in forms texts to english and send you print screens so you guys can see what they would look like if the site was in english.

    Thank you Abdulla!

I've started using List Builder now and I can't wait to see if it will increase the opt ins.

Make sure to use an exit popup too. Most people are blind to regular opt-in forms so they simply don't notice it. When using a popup there's no way they won't notice.

I know it's not pleasant for visitors, but it increase your conversions a lot, and most people are getting used to it so...

I have to say that doesn't look like a very tempting/valuable freebie.

    It's very general.

Maybe you should try something more like:

'Discover how an ordinary family gets 50% knocked off their holiday
bookings, every time by using one simple phrase and smiling sweetly'

Now that looks like something I'd like to get my hands on.

I know you can't use that exactly as it is but it will need to be
    something along those lines..

I'm with Helisell on that, a modern E-mail must be much more interesting and "fun" to read. if your not an established house hold name you can't just tell people you have advice for "cheapr and better" that's just not enough.
You have to try at least to catch the eye and mind of the read, intrigue him.
"You won't how much money you can save in your next holiday, just click here"
there are millions of other options.

Just remember one thing - you have to stand out!

Thank you so much for the tips! Im really bad at finding good names and selling headlines for my freebie. I liked the title "You won't how much money you can save in your next holiday, just click here".

Please give me more examples of selling headlines for the boring title "Tips on how to get cheaper and better hotel stays"
