Can I sell my Aweber list?

I have a list of > 3500 subscribers on Aweber. I haven't used it for a few months and don't want to keep paying for the monthly cost of having the account. So yeah can I somehow sell it and get it transferred to someone elses list without the subs having to resub to the new account?

Thanks in advance.

Could you please expand on why it's not a good idea?

    Thanks

Please excuse my asking so bluntly, Abdulla, but do you really have any idea what you're talking about, here? Are you actually familiar with this situation?

It's not a good idea for countless reasons. Legal, ethical, contractual and commercial. The main one, perhaps, from the perspective of a putative buyer, is that the value of a list is in the strength of the trust-based relationship between the list-owner and the subscribers.

You lose that (usually) when you sell the list.

Nothing devalues a list like selling it.

No; Aweber rightly and understandably won't allow that (whatever Abdulla imagines).

But you may be able to sell a complete business entity of which an Aweber account is part of the assets. With Aweber's consent and understanding, and subject to whatever conditions they lay down, that could transfer a complete Aweber account (not "a list") from one party to another. That's something very different from what you've asked.

Thanks for that informative reply Alexa! Guess I have to either start emailing again to cover my costs, or just bite the bullet and close the account.

      Maybe.

But look at it this way: if it's a "stale list" that isn't even covering its Aweber subscription-fee, then it's really questionable whether it would have any value to a subsequent third party, anyway.

3500 subscribers on Aweber costs you $49 per month, right? Are you sure that you cant make more than that amount of money from 3500 subs each month? I mean if you can't make more than 50 bucks from that list, Im pretty sure that nobody would buy it. What kind of list is it? Fake emails?

If its real emails, don't sell it buddy. Give it an hour or two every week and Im sure you can make some cash

It kinda depends on how you got those subscribers. If you got them from a blog for instance you could sell the blog and the list would just be a part of it.

If you just used a squeeze page then it's another story...

What you could do is create a blog now related to the topic the people subscribed to your list in the first place, and introduce your list to it. That might be a work-around to the problem. It would take some weeks perhaps (or days if you outsource the work), but you would be surprised how much a an asset like that is worth.

I built the list the legit way, through safe swaps and through optins from my product in my sig, I tested it out a couple weeks ago and was getting 100 opens on average per email and 1/3rd of those clicking the link inside. At the moment I am just very busy with personal things and my day job to keep at it. I realize most people probably wouldn't want to buy it. Just wanted to see if it was even possible to sell it legally. Will be hard to get rid of it as I remember spending so much time/effort/money building the thing!!

-e- I do still have automatic payments coming in monthly from my product, so that's something I guess!

    Thanks

NZSchollar, Do what you have to do buddy. You can sell it , but here is what i recommend.. Offer them to send the emails to our lists, so that they will pay you again to send another campaign.

BTW, idk why you need others confirmation on weather you can sell it or not. Just sell it if you want to.

Have you actually read the thread, at all? The OP was simply asking other Aweber users whether it's permissible to transfer a list in Aweber to the account of another Aweber member, and the answer is that it isn't.

For good, valid and understandable reasons.

Why do people who don't know the answer, and apparently haven't even read the question, keep trying to give "advice", here?!

No need to bash on my response like you do with EVERY post you make on WF....
I did read the question, gave an advice and said my opinion.

Did i respond saying how stupid your response was? No. Its your opinion and i could care less. You should do the same.

I wonder why some people.. ( ahem ahem ) have to bash every response of others.

It's not a question of "opinion", Aire: it's a question of fact.

It's (obviously) not permitted (for both legal and ethical reasons) to transfer a list to someone else's account inside Aweber. Opinion has nothing to do with it. No legal, serious, professional autoresponder service will, or can, allow that, other than in the circumstances I've described above in some detail (and even that's "discretionary"). It's factual.

Sorry, but it helps nobody, here, when you say "yes" to a question of which the objective, factual answer is "no". And trying to brush it aside as "a matter of opinion" fools nobody, also.

I have to agree with herman12. A better thing would be to revive your list by get in touch with them through regular mails for the next week or two. Offer them something of value to them and share your story for not being able to be in touch with them. This might just help you to connect with your list again.
Once that is taken care of you may get back to safe swaps and aggressively build on the number by doing daily swaps.
    Just my 2 cents!
    Ajay
