What will happen in 2015?

If you pay attention to what's going on, the most common complaints you'll hear are:
  • open rates are going down
  • emails are getting trapped in SPAM filters
  • there is too much competition in the inbox
  • and others.

What do you think? What will email marketing look like in 2015?

For me, it will be a bit easier in 2015 than it was during 2014.

I say that because the same thing has been true for me every year since 2008 and I haven't seen any reason to change my mind, yet.

There'll effectively be less "good quality competition" because people think it's harder to do, won't work for them, they'll have gmail problems, and all the other reasons people contrive. I don't know ... everything in internet marketing works well for some people and not so well for others, and not at all for some people.

        .

Google seems like it is hell bent on a mission to kill email marketing. Who can complain about their mission statement "email spam is bad!".

So they put an unsubscribe button in gmail, then they move that button from the bottom to the top in gmail. They then apply a classifier to your email and move EDMs to a "promotions tab" (which no-one reads).

However the motives behind this are a little more sinister. At the very same time Google tests an ad unit that looks like an email.

Now they completely redesign email with the "inbox". Of course this looks like a mission to further reduce the effectiveness of email marketing. All so you buy google ads.

Just like they are trying to kill SEO in favour of SEM.

I think it will become harder because competition will increase, but the ones who now how to play this game will be able to handle themselves well. New comers will have difficulty in adjusting!

Email marketing will be harder in 2015. Most of the email service provider like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo mail are filtering the mails based on its content, sender and popularity. Gmail is very strict now days.

I think it will be same.

Strategies and tactics for IM may change, but IM itself will be around as long as internet is here.

It all depends on you and the way you market.

For me it will be easier because this year I did not do any email marketing.

If you don't do it, it always seems hard, lol.

Taking the right kind of action will make it easy.

I think E-mail Op-in Lists will increasingly be replaced with Buyers lists. People who have bought from you in the past or bought products from any good affiliate will be high on the radar for marketing lists.

If you keep sending your boring emails to your list that don't provide ANY value then 2015 will be a very hard year for you.

But if you send them emails that are personal, that share a story or lesson, and that provide value 2015 will be a very profitable year for you

To me, if you build a solid relationship with your email list it will be the same for the year 2015. If they trust you and like what you send to them, it will be relatively the same.

What I think will happen is smart marketers will stop focus on the medium ( e.g. e-mail ). Rather, they'll put effort into communication.

I think for a short while, there will be a huge advantage for those who are willing to communicate via several media at the same time - it's an advantage now.

The concern is a soon as something starts working, people try to automate it - like social media, article marketing etc.

What they don't understand is that you CANNOT automate a relationship, but then again, these people don't understand the value of a business relationship in the first place.

"Look at my inbox there are tons of emails" i heard this word mostly when i surf online. So according to this peoples are not ready to read those boring emails, and up next there are spam filters block the emails.
So i think email marketing is less worthy on up coming 2015..
What do you think? any ideas share with me.

  • Business is business. Marketing is marketing. Why would it be any easier or any harder? It's all relative.

If your intention is to cheat the system (most SEO folk) or to keep people on your list who don't want to be there (worried about unsubscribe link at top of emails) then quite simply, you should be worried. And it might be harder next year. Might be bloody harder every year.

It should be easier next year because we will all be better marketers.

    Won't we?

Yes, we will Declan, is the only right answer to that question.

So... get... better... get better, get better... get better.

I don't think it's going to be harder, if you know what you're doing and do it right.

Of course there will always be some people complainig of how hard things is. But the ironic thing is that those are usually the people who never made any money :-)

I think it's getting harder for email marketing. Promotions tabs and spam filters are making it harder to get your emails to potential customers. On the other hand, online shopping and internet use is increasing as the population ages, which means a larger market to capture, but more competition.

In my humble opinion it depends on the way you market, however it's true that new marketer will have problems adjusting to the changes email providers are having
