Don't Want to Use My Personal Address

Hi Guys

I recently signed up to Mailchimp to start an email campaign and monthly newsletter. One of the legal requirements is that a physical address must be given that will appear on all mailings sent out. I don't want to use my home address so how do I comply with this legally? I'm in the UK.

  • Might want to use something like this:

Does the UK mail service itself rent boxes? If so that would be an option as well.

Most people do it by using an address at which they can receive physical mail, such as either a UK P.O. Box number or a service such as "mailboxes etc" (UK-wide).

This thread is both probably relevant and possibly important to you (or at the very least, something you might want to read before starting?): http://www.warriorforum.com/email-ma...ail-chimp.html

    • Thank you to both of you for your replies - I will read the thread. I do believe our postal service offers mailboxes but I'll have to enquire.

  • Maybe a better question might be why you dont want to use your real address for your email marketing campaigns?

    • Sorry, but there is NO way I would use my actual home address on my email campaigns.

      Call me paranoid or whatever.

To me it is just NOT smart.

  • I've clients who have used the following company, you can place your business name on the address. Naturally you hav to provide proof of id and residence.

I've no link to the company
  • Why dont you want your real address to appear on your email marketing? I think its just right to have that included because it will help people identify your company is real.
  • I've done email marketing with my personal address for years and it never been any problem.
  • yes i never had any problems either.
  • you do not have to worry about the people on your list. you have to worry about your auto repsonder banning if you get alot of spam complaints.
  • If we are talking can-spam compliance then they just require an address on the email.

You can use Fake-name-generator for names and addresses if you like but if you have a genuine business then the actual business address is a good idea.

I'll often run campaigns through various auto responders for clients and we just change the footer to their address and it has never been an issue.

But Mailchimp? Yes I love them for my corporate newsletter but watch out if you're an internet marketer because sooner or later...you know what happens...
