Best form of email capture for a new website

Hi all,

I have started working with a very traditional business who has very little on-line activity.

I was hoping to start an email marketing campaign with them using mail chimp (although if anyone can suggest better platforms, i'm open to hear them).

However, has anyone got any legitimate way of capturing customer and potential customer email addresses?

The business is in the process of building a website in the next few months and has no stored email addresses of customers from their offline stores.

I have started a monthly competition where customers enter by supplying their email address, but does anyone have any better ideas about collecting email addresses prior to an email marketing launch?

I prefer AWeber. I tried MailChimp and didn't know what was going on. Plus, it's a free service... and you get what you "pay" for.

So, right now you're just trying to collect email addresses via offline methods, until the website is up??

Why not just "ask" customers for their email addresses. You don't get what you don't ask for.

    I prefer Aweber.

Not sure what type of business ?? If it is a traditional retailer then I would consider having them sign up for a "Vip List" where all the newest products, discounts, and special deals will be immediately sent to them to 'view first' before the traditional crowd

You can 'prime' your Prospects that way and build anticipation

Just go to Aweber and sign up for an account its only a buck for the first month.

    Can't go wrong with it.

    Hope that helps,
