What to do with an email list

Hello there,
I am in possession of an email list which is connected to fantasy book niche. I was thinking about utilizing it into getting some money. I was thinking about creating a blog about those books, but in reallity I am not really into that stuff, so I can't really provide very interesting information. Nor can I produce an ebook for sales. Is there any other way to monetize that?
Also, what is the best way to send mails to many people at once? Regular Gmail or some other tools?

What format is the list in, Lembas?

    How did you build it?

Are they all people who have opted in to receive emails from you, because you're the person from whom they want and are expecting to hear?

Sorry to answer a question with other questions, but the answer to what you're asking necessarily depends on those things!

Well, I overestimated a little that I am in possession of it. Actually my friend who is in internet marketing promissed me that he will give me a small list to boost me up in this business, but he told me that I should learn what exactly to do with it. For this reason, I am not sure what format it is in. I know, however that he had some kind of blog or a website and thats how he got them.
Also, the person they are expecting to receive mails from is him, but I guess since he is willing to give them to me, the right to write to them is going to me, right?
    Thank you for your reply

      Wrong.

What you're suggesting is actually illegal (Can-Spam Act), and it's something that nobody's terms of service (no host, no email service provider, no autoresponder service), rightly, is going to allow you to do knowingly, however and wherever you try to do it.

It would have no value to you, anyway, because you have no existing relationship with those subscribers, and that's the value of a list. Email marketing (that works) is permission-based.

But more relevantly in this context, it's also exactly the kind of behavior that helps to give "internet marketers" collectively, the reputation we have with some of the public for being spammers ... so don't expect too warm a reaction, here, to your plans. Sorry about that!

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know that. I just thought that with his approval I can send them my content, seems that I was wrong then :/

Well... just think about it - if you were one of the subscribers, you receive an email from whom you have NO idea about then what'd you feel like? If that were me I'd simply block the person out and thought that was just another spammy email... not very healthy marketing methods!

Instead what you SHOULD do (as most email marketers are doing) is set up an autoresponder account (GetResponse is the best), set up a sale funnel then ask your friend to send out an email containing your squeeze page link to his leads, then begin to monetize that list with affiliate offers - that way you won't be seem as spam. That's the best advice I could give you!
