What's the best list-automation method/practice?

Hey guys,

I have a blog with over 200 articles. I also have 4 products I've created. I want to start properly segmenting my main list into segmented lists when subscribers make purchases, but I'm not sure what's the best way to approach this.

Currently my subscribers get weekly e-mails featuring articles from my blog. They really like the articles and my unsubscribe rates are pretty low. As my free give-away I use a free 5-day mini- course for signing up. The course pitches a full length 6 month course on day 5.

All 4 of my products are set up in a membership section. When someone purchases one of the products they are automatically added to a list. So the buyer's lists are being built automatically.

What I'm not sure about is whether or not to remove buyers from my main mailing list once they make a purchase. If I do, they no longer get the weekly blog posts ( don't send these manually, I've scheduled several months of weekly e-mails in advance).

But if I don't, people who have already purchased one of my products may see discount specials for products they purchased at a higher rate. What's the best approach here guys?

I'm really planning to go all out focusing on list building next year and I'm trying to be sure everything is set up properly.

Thanks in advance!

You need to keep seperate lists for 4 products. And one list for blog posts notification.

You can set up the product lists (some subscribers are buyers already) in a way that they stay in 'Inactive' status, so they don't receive emails with discount. Only active prospects receive your discounts.

I am not sure which mailing list software you use, but with simple combination of
    1. multiple lists
    2. automatic moving prospects to buyers list
    3. automatic 'Inactive' status can achieve your goal.
