Hey warriors.

I am sure most of you know that when you send out your campaigns your from name should be an email from a domain you own.

An example would be: john@johniscool.com

This right off the start gives you more authority and keeps you out of the spam folder!

Now what I discovered is that the older your domain the more "authority" you are perceived to have and the more authority you have the less you are going to end up in the promotion folder or even the spam folder.

If you have yet to begin building a list you can purchase a cheap and older domain at

FreshDrop.com | Expired or Dropped Domains | Domain Name Search

Now if you have a loyal following from a website that is already branded by you then don't change your from name because your subscribers will wonder what the heck this is and what he is doing emailing me!

Hope this might open your eyes. I just noticed when I changed to a 4 year old domain with a page rank 2 I had a tremendous open rate!

Yes that could help, but you need to do a lot of research before buying an expired domain. It's not just a matter of checking the pagerank and the age, if it was used for spamming in the past then you would actually be worse of.

But i'm sure if you do your due diligence this is a great tip to have better inbox rates.

HUGE tip anything to stay out of that dreaded promotional folder. I lose email that I want in there it really doesn't make sense why Google did that to people. I guess it's better for their gmail ads to eliminate the competition just like ranking sites w/ no ads (such as wikipedia) at the top of the serps.

I agree you definitely want to make sure the domain wasn't used for spam before too.

I wouldn't say using a domain email address "increases" your open rate, however, using a domain for as your email address instead of a "free" email will increase deliverability, which than in turn can increase your open rate. What type of information you deliver to your subscribers will ultimately determine how well your open rate is.
