Help with email marketing biz idea...

What small business category could use email marketing to grow their sales, that do not currently use email marketing "well"?

They might even collect email addresses, but are too lazy or inexperienced or it's just not part of their DNA to write emails and use them properly/frequently.

Autoresponder would be a foreign word to them.

I'm looking for a vertical I can approach with my email marketing coaching/new idea that isn't necessarily in the IM niche, BUT congregate together and I can access...for example, could yogurt shop franchises use email marketing? Dry cleaners?

Can you all help me make a list?

I was going to say black owned barber shops - but i'm not sure if you meant strictly online businesses or offline businesses. So black owned barber shops offline is one great place to start at.

Most of them for their *side hustle* inside their shop is selling burned CD's & DVD's for like $5 each. They have no idea how much money they could be making if implemented some simple backend postcard direct mail marketing, and email marketing.

Marketing to sell burnt cds or barber services?

Is this "new idea" one you've actually tested and know it works, or is it just a notion you think you can make some bucks on in what Randall labelled a "side hustle"?

If it's the first, Just about any service business has people in it that need help with marketing - and want it. One thing you may run into, and you'll want to survey several people in that vertical to find out, is whether franchisees are locked into certain restrictions with email or online marketing, either contractually or legally. For example, many real estate franchises don't want their franchisee brokers using outside emails (emails not approved by the parent company). If the major franchisors in a market don't let their franchisees use outside services, you'd need to examine the independents to see if a) there are enough to make it worth your while and b) if you can effectively reach them.

If it's the second, and you want to charge people for coaching in untested theory, please don't. There are enough snake oil salespeople in the consulting/coaching game - especially targeting small businesses - that they don't need another one messing with their livelihoods.
