sorting subscribers by actions automatically

I am preparing to start an email list and try out email marketing. I want to put as much into this as possible to assure success. One idea was to have my emails track the actions of the subscriber and then tag that subscriber or put them in another list. So for example say they click a link to facebook, then they will be put into a "social media active" category, or if they click a link for a certain product that would put them in another list. Is there any easy way to do this?

I think the only way to do this would be to create an email list for each social site you plan to add a link. When your subscriber clicks and subscribes, they are then added to that particular email list. You can create as many lists as you like with any major autoresponder.

Depending on the email system you use, you will be able to segment your list based on behavior and even tag users to add on new lists when they take certain actions. Check Aweber.com
It's absolutely the right thing to do: segment lists based on interest, behaviors, buyers, size, shape, etc.
    Good Luck

    One way to do it:
Add list of options during subscriptions (like radiobuttons or dropdowns). So users enter into a SINGLE LIST with different interests. You can search subscribers based on their interests and email them.

Your autoresponder should be equipped to do this.

    Second way to do it:
Redirect them based on their selected option(s) to different subscription forms. So subscribers will enter into DIFFERENT LISTS from the beginning.

.You can use any small redirection php/javascript code snippet to different subscription forms.

Depending on your marketing, online marketers these days should be implementing at least 1 social networking platform. I wouldn't recommended segmenting that deep unless the niche was very broad such as, dogs and make money online. But you would be sending them into different lists anyway.

There are automatic rules you can apply within certain AR's but you'll have to look into that yourself or get the fastest answer by asking live support. But to be honest, since you're just preparing to start listbuilding, I wouldn't say it's worth it at this point.
