Does URL Affect Conversions: Leadpages?

I signed up with Leadpages and have yet to use them. However you can host your pages on their servers as a subdomain or you can host the pages on your domain/host. Will it affect conversions as my subdomain will not be that specific because I plan on using it for alot of different products, as if I had my own domain it could be more specific.

So either my squeeze will either show (in the url)

mychosenname.leadpages.net
or
mydomain.com

I guess my question simplified would be how much does what is in URL affect conversions?

    Usually the URL without the .leadpages.net will convert better. But still, the best way to know is to test both version.

    But in your testing sequence, what usually makes the most impact is the HEADLINE and the CALL TO ACTION, followed by the benefit bullet points (if you have any). If you can get your headline to convert up to 50%, you just need to improve your CTA, and you're good to go.

    Testing URL should be done after all of these as it's not one of the primary driver of Click Through Rate.
