Okay, so I'm new and still haven't sold anything yet. Yet.
Without any perspective on haw many sales I can make per click, I'm tentatively basing my expected sales based on what I am considering my "10%/1% Rule".
  • Say I have a list of 10,000 subscribers. (lofty, I know, but do-able).
  • 10% (1,000) will click on an affiliate link in my weekly email
  • 1% (10) will actually buy something from my affiliate link

Would you consider this to be a realistic goal?
#10% or 1% #rule

Nope ... sorry, Phil, but I'd consider it neither realistic nor sensible. The sooner you stop looking at it in quantitative terms and start thinking about relevance and quality and value, the sooner you're likely to make that first sale.

Many times, a list of 1,000 will produce more income than a list of 10,000. There are reasons for that, and they're good and valid and reliable reasons which will apply to you just like they do to the rest of us.

Was going to reply and saw this ^

I literally couldn't of said it better - this is spot on in my opinion and experience.

The good news is that you need NOWHERE near a list size of 10,000 to make a decent income. Also if you DID have a list that size and you were only getting 1000 to click your link and a 1% conversion rate then there would be no point in having the large list.

A list of 300-500 people can be VERY profitable - it is the MARKETING and the GOODWILL you give to that list that is important.

So, I was very happy to hear that size, in this case does not matter!

But you need to know how to use it...the list I mean of course!

      Good Luck!

      All the best,

      Chris Jones

          Thanks Phil,

Simple plan that works for me assuming you have a decent niche.

Concentrate on GIVING as much as you can for free.

Concentrate on giving the stuff that will move them one step closer to where they want to be.

          So for instance:

I had a chicken coop guide "How to build chicken coop" - and i gave free emails, reports showing how to plan for your chicken coop and make sure you have room in the yard and make sure it is safe from predators.

So they go out into the yard and follow the report, measure up and make sure it is all good.

And THEN they need a guide showing you how to build one - guess where they would come too.

Of course it is different for every niche but the more goodwill you show, and the smoother it moves them from point A to point B the better results you will have.

You will also find you don't need that large a list that way,

          All the best,

          Chris Jones

Thank you, Alexa. Like I said, I'm new and am gathering as much info as I can before diving in the deep end of this business.
