What to do when the list refuse to buy from you

Hi, I canceled my Aweber account twice because I cannot monetize my list. I use solo ads to build my list. I'm willing to build a list again, but before that, I want to know, how to increase the conversion rate of my list. What can I do to make lots of them buy from me?

Nobody can tell you what you've been doing wrong without seeing everything you've been doing.

But here are 6 posts/threads which - between them - cover all the basics of "what makes list-building and email marketing profitable", and my guess is that if you read through each of them carefully enough, you'll find several things discussed which haven't worked out for you because you haven't been doing them as described/suggested. It isn't usually "one single thing" which you have to change: the causative factors behind "failure to monetize" are typically multifactorial.

What are the essential things to know about list building?

      As Alexa already mentioned:

It's really going to be difficult without seeing or at least knowing what you're previous 2 approaches to email marketing was before. As for anyone new I always inform them that it's not about the size of your list, but the size of your engagement.

Would you rather have a list of 100 strong or 1000 uninterested, non committed and burned out list? You're approach as an Online Marketer has to change and especially at the early stages in order to build that authority and reach out to those who want their problems solved and their lives changed.

The concept should never be about "me". I can't say too much as I have no idea what you were doing before but it does seem as though it was just about numbers, when in fact there's a whole lot more to be considered, in order to start seeing the results you want.

I would venture to guess that might me a source of the problem. There can be some really garbage Solo Ads out there.Take some of the other advice here as well as looking at some of the quality of the Solos you are buying.

This might be an issue if this is how you are approaching marketing. There used to be tons of people on the Buy or Die train of email marketing. That is they hammered their list until the people bought something or unsubscribed.

The other thing is, it is only a list of people from your perspective. Each of the people reading your email is having a private conversation with you. They are not thinking about how many people are on the list or what you expect from doing this.

    They are thinking about themselves.

Most people who are subscribing to a freebie list are conditioned to expect freebies, unless you set the expectation right in the first email by providing product recommendation.

My suggestion, create a product, and charge $1 for it. Don't forget to over deliver in the product. When traffic comes in to your squeeze page and sign up, hit them with a $1 OTO.

A lot of them will buy, since, it's so darn cheap. And hey you got yourself a buyer instead of a freebie seekers.

It doesn't matter what people say. They say you can make money with freebie seekers, and you can build relationship. If you can do that with freebie seekers list, the result will be at least 10 times with buyers list!

    Hope that helps!

You have to think about value on every email you send. Even if you are promoting to your list you need to deliver value. So first you have to ask are you promoting things that will actually help them? Are you telling them more than to just go buy something? Give them content even if you are promoting. Tell them something about that method that you have personally tried or learned before selling them on something.

My advise is to pay more attention to the source of traffic you're using. Solo are a good source for getting traffic to your offers, however you need to be really careful who you buy your clicks from. Understand that these people are getting hit with offers day in and day out. You need to set yourself apart from the rest from the very beginning. Create a welcome email that explains what to expect from you, begin your branding from day one. Introduce offers from the very beginning, you can create a low cost OTO for $1 like mentioned above. You goal is build your buyers from day one, move those freebie seekers to the buyers side as fast as possible.

  • How is being on your email list different/better than being on the other two dozen lists your subscribers are on?

Why should they give you their limited attention?

Address this, and you'll get better results, obviously.

Put yourself in the subscribers state of mind. No, look at your emails as if you were receiving the emails. No wait, better yet, are these the type of emails you would send to family and closest friends? Are you coming across as a marketer trying to make a quick buck? Do you actually care about helping your list and recommending solutions to them out of their interests or are you doing things for your best interests? Do you see your subscribers as real people or just emails? Building a big list is only important if it's a big responsive list otherwise it's worthless.

Even better, tell me exactly what it said.

It boils down to one reality...Ask yourself why they must buy from you ? Do you have your own products or service or do you push affiliate links ? Do you have a name in the IM niche ? If not start branding your name/brand by developing a good offer in WSO/JVZOO and buld relationship in im facebook groups then watch the difference.

What is your niche? If the answer is "internet marketing" - you need to be more specific. So for example...focus on building a list of prospects who are specifically interested in "list building" or "product creation". Create separate lists in your autoresponder for separate interests.
Sometimes this means (before buying a solo ad) contacting the solo ad vendor and grilling him or her with questions -ask them straight up...how did they build their list? What did they use as a lead magnet? How many buyers? Try to get as many details as possible!! You should know what you're paying for, and you should know MORE than it's "Tier 1" traffic.
Consider creating a small info product. If someone pays even $1 for a report about lawn care....guess what? That person is interested in how their yard looks!!! They should be placed in a separate list in your AR called "lawn_care" and then only sent emails about similar topics/offers!! Dumb example maybe but just trying to get the point across...think like this and I think you will statistically increase your chances of success my friend
