What's Wrong With GetResponse.com?

Did anyone noticed the 404 error in every link from all emails sent from GR servers?

I see some promotional emails from fellow marketers, click on the links, only to land on a 404 error page. Wonder what's happening to their server and pity marketers who are losing tons of money as a result of this.

This has been going on for over a week now. Wonder if this is just an issue from my end

Anyone noticed this? And probably notice GR support to help fellow marketers stop losing money!

  • If i understand you correctly that just means that those specific accounts have been shut down. The only time I have ever seen dead links in autoresponder emails is when their tracking systems are applied to the links and the account has been shut down.

It happens quite a lot nowadays due to certain spammy practices marketers try to get away with in their email marketing.

If it happens that the accounts aren't shut down but the links are still leading to error pages then the tracking within GR is causing the problem. I would think those particular marketers would send themselves a test email to themselves prior to broadcasting to their lists, though. In which case simply avoiding the use of GR tracking would solve the problem. So who knows

Yes, I think you're right. Skipping the tracking part will solve this nasty problem for marketers.
  • It's fine at my end. But you are saying, this has been going on for over a week now?

Yes, for a over a week now. But I guess those are autoresponder email preset on these terminated accounts
  • I use an offline email program and get that for all GetResponse links but they work fine if I click them in Gmail.

One of my subscribers has said they get the same problem with Aweber links.

So I guess it's to do with how different email systems interpret things
  • Hi there!

As another poster has mentioned, most likely this has to do with the fact that those particular accounts are possibly disabled, and their links have GetResponse click tracking enabled, which leads to a 404 error message because the links cannot be directed properly.

However if these accounts are not actually disabled, our Support team could quickly and easily troubleshoot with the account owner to diagnose and remedy the issue. We haven't had a report of a global issue with link tracking, so most likely it is related to some specific accounts being closed.

    Sorry for any confusion!

Gotcha! I think you're damn right because most of these emails from these guys look very spammy and I can't honestly remember when I subscribed to their lists :'(
    • Hi Abby,

      ??????

You're saying that the GetResponse account is disabled, but... GetResponse is sending the emails out anyway?

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

That has also happened to me recently. It was probably an error from GetResponse which is fixed by now.

I don't know if it's just me but whenever I opt in to a list that is from GetResponse, it always ends up in the spam/junk folder while emails from Aweber autoresponder is sent to the normal inbox.
