Is eMail Marketing Dying?

I am curious on what everyone thinks. I personally have been seeing a great response from it. BUT I have heard that other people are enjoying it pretty nicely.

No, Email is not dead at all. It is a place whereby we start the "engagement" process. If done correctly, giving some good information before a pitch, it works just fine. There is a strategy to it. As long as you know how, it's a win win.

Email marketing is still preferred 3:1 by consumers over any other form of marketing, and it offers double the return on investment as well. So if customers prefer it and mainstream business make more money from it than anything else, then email marketing is thriving in every sense of the word.

On the other hand, it is certainly dying for the bottom feeders who spam the universe because-

    1) It's illegal
    2) It's ridiculously stupid attempts at marketing
    3) Consumers hate spammers
    4) Spammers hate other spammers
    5) Google hates spammers most of all
    6) Whatever Google hates, the ISP's hate too

So it all depends on what you're talking about here; actual email marketing or spamming out trash offers that nobody cares about. One is thriving and the other...Good Lord, hopefully it's 100% dead soon.

And most of us don't like companies who get involved in tax avoidance and have a questionable algorithmic system.

Email marketing will never die. You just have to learn how to build a list, nurture a list (or engagement), and provide value to your list. The real truth is that poor email marketers are dying not email marketing. I know this from experience because I let my list go cold before I finally got it and it is coming back now. Bottom line you need to build your list but also know your list.

Email marketing is definitely not dead.

But just like everything else it is changing. And if you don't change with it, you will get left behind.

The key to email marketing is to constantly be moving people up your funnel. You should always be trying to convert them from freebie seekers to buyers. The best way to do this is to just overwhelm them with value.

When you send them nothing but value, they will constantly want to open and read your emails. Even click your links and check out what you are talking about. The guy from sourcewave does a great job of this.

    Not really.

It depends on what niche you are in, how much you know about your niche and how you communicate to your target audience.

    In this case, your subscribers.

I do not know about you or other marketers but for my case, my first email is about thanking the person for opting in and linking him or her to my thankyou page with the free gift download and affiliate link.

My 5-7 emails consists of mainly content from my blog and occasional offers in order to build credibility, relationship and trust with my subscribers first which I think are very important.

If you just send email offer after another in order to make quick $ and treat your subscribers as ATM machine especially when you started out as newbie, you are going to have problems lasting long.

Though many successful marketers do that simply by sending email offers, they have already build relationship and trust with their subscribers.

Email marketing is massively personal and is still very much the way to build your business. Most people are checking their emails regularly. It is a great way to personalize your business as well as grow it. You also build a relationship and when it is set up correctly you can build a thriving business. You think about it . Do you have something you subscribed to? Are you receiving info from someone in your inbox...doesn't get much more personal than that......Jennifer

Email is a popular marketing message delivery platform. It's like your internet version of the physical mailbox outside your house. You will keep checking it till you die. And, that is why it will never cease to work.

Unless something better comes along which hasn't happened. Atleast yet.

Good luck on your marketing journey!

Email marketing certainly is not instant to set up unless you are spamming.

But once it is set up and you have a relationship and credibility with any size list, it can be the fastest payday you ever experienced...again and again.

Noooooo! Email marketing is very much alive and is not going anywhere any time soon. Remember how people used to tell you that the money was in the list? Well, as long as you are building a list, you are going to be sending them emails everyday to either motivate them or sell them something. If you don't, you can rest assured someone else is emailing them and selling stuff to them as they are on more than one mailing list mostly due to solo ads which enable people to get offers form many different marketers.

If you're just building LOW quality lists in their thousands and then trying
to hammer those lists with just PURE paid offers emails then of course don't
expect to see any life changing results soon.

But on the other hand if you:

    1. Aim to build a targeted list of people that are interested in your offer/solution

    2. You then find out where those people hang out - Forums, Facebook Groups, YouTube etc

    3. Then tell about your solution - Get them onto your lists

    4. Build relationships

    5. Then tell them about how you can further help them to reach/achieve/solve
    their XYZ problem, GOAL etc

    6. Then ASK them to PAY you for that solution.

THEN you have a real business with targeted lists that KNOW, LIKE
and TRUST you and see you as the go to expert in your niche.

Far better approach than to just think that MORE is BETTER.

I don't think so. Email marketing is a powerful means for communication and traffic generation. Tons of people are experiencing success from it. People who don't get any results are people who get junk leads from bad traffic sources.

If you do email marketing properly: offering value, proper communication, frequent messaging, etc. You will get amazing and even spectacular results from it. It all depends on where you get your leads from, what you send them and if you're communicating to them effectively. A list is still very powerful and honestly, I don't see it going away. Everyone checks their emails.

Actually, you will find that as you continue to do email marketing, your returns continue to increase.

      Why?

Apart from the fact that your list size grows, you will develop a much better understanding of what your list / niche likes and does not like. Plus, if you do things right, you will build a better relationship with your subscribers.

All of which translates into significantly higher profits.

Email marketing dead? Nope. It's alive and kicking butt.

Lol so what exactly is this "dying" thing coming from then if you and others are doing well form it?

Email is still going incredibly strong for most marketers who take their businesses seriously (the non-hobbyists).

The only thing that's dying are crappy forms of marketing. The stuff that relies on shortcuts to get you by. Marketing shortcuts and gimmicks are always shunted and cut down over time. If anything that's the type of marketing that's dying.

**Example of gimmick marketing: using the youtube top comments to funnel traffic to a site or offer. Youtube did away with this because it was getting abused by spam offers. The idea was nice, but it was a gimmick form of marketing and it was heavily abused by spammers, and so it was cut away.

Email continues to be a strong form of communication and marketing. Unfortunately what you're finding is that with all the spam that one finds in their inbox, more email marketers are having a declining open and read rate which is forcing marketers to explore other channels for communicating with consumers.

They two most used in recent years have been SMS text messaging and social media. I'd imagine over time that mobile apps will also increase in popularity with their PUSH notifications.

Email marketing isn't dead. It seems dead to spammers who call themselves marketers... No one fancies waking up each day to see bunch of affiliate links sent to them...

I believe it really depends on how you use it as to whether you will benefit from it to be honest. Some see great results from it however others don't and I have found that those that don't either don't make their emails very interesting and informative or they don't tend to have enough to keep people interested. Best thing to do is to build up a good following of people who want to receive your emails and then stick to it and keep them interested.

Is it dead? Is it alive? It’s dead. No, it’s alive. Are you sure it’s alive? I think it’s dead. NO, it’s alive. This is the topic discussed on forums for years...

There are always rumors around the marketing world that email marketing is "dead" - those rumors could not be further from the truth. Not only is email marketing alive and well, it is actually one of the most important and effective avenues of communication.

The problem is that many marketers don’t have a clue how to integrate email marketing into their business, nor how to properly align with their current marketing strategies and tactics.
Sure you can't spam your prospect... If you do so then email marketing will be dead for you

I don't think it is dead at all. Yes people get lots of emails everyday but if you learn how to stand out from the crowd and become someone of true value; people will open up your emails.

NB: It's handy to study copywriting books and great headlines that encourage people to open emails up. Best way I have found is steal techniques from the emails you have opened up from people and read through and clicked through etc....and think why did I do that?; and implement into your own emails

Email marketing isn't dead. It's probably not as effective as it was years ago, but it certainly isn't dead! If you do what matty said, find a way to make people open your email and read it, then you have nothing to worry about.
