Effect of Google Inbox on Email Marketing

Hey,

This may be an ignorant post as I've been running around all day and haven't had time to properly dig into the new google product "Inbox" to see what it's all about.

If you haven't seen it yet, take a look:

Inbox by Gmail - the inbox that works for you

My initial impression is that it doesn't look like it's designed to replace email, and so hopefully won't have any major effects on email marketing.

What does everyone else think?

From what I've played with Inbox, it's Google's ambition to try to change email.

It does look, in a way, as a more productive space.

However, the way it "bundles" everything up SUCKS at the moment.

The way I see it screwing with us email marketers ?

Same inbox deliverability, much LOWER CTR.

If people don't set up specific filters, our emails will probably be "bundled" with the rest of the emails a user receives.

Since we're sending from domains that belong to an ESP - most emails will be marked as "Promos".

Bottom line - as a user, I don't like inbox. As a marketer, I hate it
