Don't understand this practise - Mailing list

Hi,
I would like to have your opinion about a practice.
- Take a niche
- Take a product for the niche
- build a target list of people that can be interested by the product for this niche
(to do this, just grab ton of emails... manually, with tools...???)
- Send a mailing with at the bottom something that said that : you can unsubscribe here...
- Wait
- put money in the pocket

I don't undestand that because many are doing this collection without their permissions. Is this legal?

Yes this is totally legal. If you are new with this you should do this manually first.

Totally legal ! You are getting permission when building the List using an Optin form ( I hope)

Capture page or opt-in form --- welcome video or offer ---- provide quality content to your list ----
Permission based email marketing is very effective way to create an income.

I have had some lists under 1000 people do really well if you build a relationship with the list and provide them with the product or service that they really need.

As mentioned, whether it's legal depends on how you're building the list. You should be getting people to opt in to your list (probably by giving away a free report or something).

    Hi Pierrebenoit!

Yes, email marketing is legal. This is voluntarily in submitting their contact details to you.
Email marketing or building your own lists is an essential tool for any form of business ever since. This is one of the most effective marketing tools around to connect with customers and prospects.
How Email Marketing Helps Your Business?

Email marketing is a form of direct marketing to your target customers that uses a systematic electronic mail compared to the old traditional mailbox marketing. Any email (newsletter, promotions, trainings, coupons, product launching, demonstration, announcements, blog content, etc.) sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. In other words, creating a communication channel to enhance vendor’s relationship with its current, potential or previous customers to develop loyalty and repeat business.

If you have done this email marketing correctly your return on investment in advertising can be tracked if spent wisely. Advertisers can accomplished numbers of email subscribers who voluntarily opted in to receive email communications on subjects of interest to them. Business owners can reach out to consumers with personalized, significant, compelling consistent messages to your customers or potential customers.

    Hope this help!

    To your ONE STEP UP!

Just ask the CNIL : http://www.cnil.fr/documentation/fic...-electronique/

the way you put it here it is ILLEGAL!!

"- build a target list of people that can be interested by the product for this niche
(to do this, just grab ton of emails... manually, with tools...???)"

this is the ILLEGAL part, you need to build a list the legal way, not "grab a ton of emails" that is the big difference

It is not legal to grab tons of email and email them.

What you are describing is spamming.

Spamming is illegal in many countries, and people hate it.

If you want to build a long lasting business, you have to do it right from the beginning. Build like and trust from your list.

    No, it's okay

Basically, on your "landing page" you collect emails (the visitors will WILLINGLY give them to you). Be sure to offer them something of value in exchange for the emails. From here, you can build your list!

Just to make things clear, you need their PERMISSION. If not, it's considered spamming, which is bad.

    Good luck.

If you are using any type of tool for collecting e-mails and then blasting out e-mails to people with your promotional e-mails - this is illegal. The reason is that you may end up sending your e-mails into people's spam folders and it is not a good strategy or marketing approach for your online business.

The best way you can do this is by using an opt-in on YOUR website as stated by other members above.

Again, if you are looking to generate fast results, buy solo ads and drive traffic to your website > this is legal.

This is very legal. Nothing's wrong about it. In fact, a lot of people have done this and no one is batting an eye.

it is NOT because they way OP formulated it, it is SPAMMING

        read... read... read... everybody

OP is talking about scraping emails or buying a worthless scraped list and then email this list, this is spamming and everybody here should know!

          Exactly.

But OP is apparently in France, and US spam laws don't apply there. I've got no clue what the laws are in France, but I guess it's fairly common that this isn't allowed in Europe either.

Also, if your mail even touches US servers the server operators will probably ban and black list you. Especially the delivery companies who have to keep their networks clean.

I'm not sure whether you are talking about scraping email addresses and bulk mailing to them, or either asking your visitors to subscribe to your list...

If you refer to the second thing then I can assure you that this is absolutely legal. The procedure you mentioned is a tested and proven business plan that many top notch players such as ramit sethi, anik singal, mark ling, john chow and many others are still practicing that makes them a million dollar fortune every year.

Asking your visitors to give their credentials in return of a free content such as a video, podcast or anything else is a great way to engage and build relation with them. Think for a second, if I give you something helpful for free and in return, you give me your email address and name. This isn't illegal.

You should clarify your misconceptions by reading this free ebook I refer to you. Its written by one of my close friends whose himself a smart entrepreneur and practicing this stuff for a couple of years now. You would not only remove wrong ideas but also learn the exact method how all those internet marketers earn money using emails. Don't feel shy to message me if you need to ask anything. I'll be glad to help you out :-)

There's no specific time. the answer will alter from a person to another. It's mainly depends on your list.
So you should do some split testing and figure out the best time to mail them.
