How Do I Combine or Compare Lists CSV Files?

1. If I export two list into two CSV files, I would like to combine them into a single CSV file. How do I do that?

2. If I export a list into a CSV file, and I export a Do Not Mail list of subscribers into another CSV file, I would like to delete all subscribers from the first file by using the second file. How do I do that?

Is there a software I can use?

Which list cleaning software is recommended for this?
#combine #compare #csv #files #lists

I have used elist pro before, I now have my own custom software.

I don't believe it supports csv files, but you can strip the email addresses from the files and then accomplish what you want to do.

Is your do not mail list text? Most suppression files theses days are MD5.
I know I have a little free suppression list manager that supports MD5 somewhere if you need one.
I have my own, so it's just a matter of where I put it / finding it, as I don't use it.

Elist pro has a free trial.

Send Safe List Manager is the best.
    CSVD is another good option.

If you have Excel you can actually just merge the two lists and then have Excel mark all duplicates. Then delete all duplicate pairs.

That's a good idea. How do I merge the two list? Do I copy the data from one list and paste it over onto the other? And where do I find the feature to mark all duplicates?

The quick way would be to just cut and paste the two lists into one Excel document.

Then in the Home tab click on Conditional Formatting. Then Highlight Cell rules and then Duplicate values.

          Thank you!

And then is there also a feature to conveniently remove all duplicates or highlighted values at the click of a button?

Highlighting duplicates still leaves a manual task of going through them.

If you want to use Excel, paste one list the total list in one sheet and paste the do not mail in another sheet. Use the VLOOKUP function on the total list sheet to find if the target has been flagged as do not mail. Then you can either delete them from your total list or set a Boolean so that you know not to mail that address.
