Like a fox!

So over the weekend ben was marketing "titians of " apparentlly he made out with about 30k over the week end.

but man did he spam the hell out of my inbox to do it.

I lost count but I thimk it was something like 8 emails over 48 hours.I cant judge because I am not moving that kind of dollars from email.

my question is how many emails have you all personally emailed in one day and how do you feel about ben's style of marketing?

  • Yes, he is, but I like him and he is entertaining and I learned a lot from him.

Outright, he always say that he is not for everyone. (This make his listener/subscriber feel that they are special. - I have to confess, I am one of them.)

He make it clear that He will email everyday and He will sell everyday. Don't we always wish we DARE to do it.

He said it loud that being in his list is a privilege, he has no fear of losing subscriber.

I like the way he draw the attention with his subject line that always create a curiosity.

The story telling part is always getting readers to keep reading, marketers talk about telling story but very few marketers do it.

He entertain then sell. I like his style.
  • It's very easy to ignore an email or eight. Anyone who gets pissed because Ben sent too many emails in one day (remember, it IS a product launch model he's using) isn't someone he wants on his list anyway, I assume.

You do realise you used the word "spam" in relation to how many emails he sent you? It's not spam,

I like his style of emailing. The guy knows his stuff that's for sure.

In a market (any market really) where most are people pleasing, it just makes sense to polarise and go against the grain. Most emails are written for fence sitters.

The way I see it: you want people choosing a side. Either moving towards you or away from you. The last thing you want are people not moving at all.

    • I absolutely do not doubt his talent and mastery with words and copy skills, but I got bored after awhile.

It is a little too bizarre, all the time...i.e an obvious 'strain' to always be shocking or overly clever in every email ( at least in my eyes)

And sometimes to much of "unique"...well it really becomes not "unique" after awhile

  • I might be careful in your wording. If you signed up for Ben's newsletter ( which I am almost certain you did ) then it is NOT spam.

Spam happens when people do not get your permission to email. And start sending you stuff

If you legitimately Unsubscribed from Ben's newsletter and then he kept emailing ...well you might have a case for shouting Spam !

  • Well...I guess he's doing something right. I've never heard of the guy, but this thread peaked my curiosity so I had to check out his site!

    • He is, dude that is married to a system that works for him.

I've seen his system work in a few markets so it's tested.
  • I'm all for maintaining engagement but eight emails in 48 hours? Unless the guy's house is on fire, that has to be an instant unsubscribe from me.

    • He stated that he got like 150 unsubscribes over the course of sending his 8 emails, which resulted in $30k for him.

He's judging things based on a couple things, of which he doesn't give a crap who he offends (and he has a few emails explaining this, i believe).

I'm not into his email style but I do save his emails to have a chuckle at the end of the week.

His focus is on maximizing profit, which means selling his membership product in every email, and as long as his complaint rate stays nice and low, which it does, he's in "good" business in his eyes.

He's one of the more extreme examples of email marketing that I've seen (from someone who knows the game, but plays to the edge of the comfort zone consistently). He doesn't care about the people who unsubscribe, nor does he survey his list to see what they want. This is all about the Ben Settle show, and he shows that in every email.

One nugget that he shared a while ago, which is true, is how he attacks email marketing.

He doesn't believe in surveying his list to hear what they want, in the same way that a hunter doesn't ask its prey its daily routine. You observe, adjust accordingly, then strike.

That may be an extreme example of "selling via email", but it just means that you do what's profitable rather than what people think is profitable. It's the difference between theory and what really works, and that's where the real profit comes from.

Though I'm not into his aggressive marketing style, i do follow him because his emails often make me laugh, which is entertainment; another aspect that we should be doing, perhaps not in the way that he does it, in our own email marketing.

  • Ben Settle is one crazy dude man.

Is the more aggressive type when it comes to email.

My favorite two emails from him so far (if I can even say that since I devour every single one)

#1) How to tell who's full of crap online

#2) Why I ignore your "feedback"

He does email a lot though, I don't mind since it is what I signed up for.

He says he will email you daily on his landing page.

Clearly runs HIS business the way HE wants too.

not only that he is making more then enough money to build his brand.

I love his fiction books too.
