Best way to build a list?

What advice would you all give if someone wanted to start listbuilding in order to send out regular Internet Marketing affiliate offers?

I know many people will weigh-in their own personal thoughts about this, but I was trying to get input about the least expensive and best return way of doing this (I know, we all want this).

Oftentimes, we go down a path of effort and spend a fair amount of money, only to get minimal or zero return.

So...

Solo Ads?
Adsense?
Forum-posts?
Signature links?
Facebook ads/page?
Youtube vids/channel?
Twitter?
Instagram?
Own website?
WSO?
All of the above?
Other?

Thanks in advance.

There are about 1,037 different ways to make an email list....and counting.

The way you build it is completely dependent on your time commitment, available budget and dedication.

Personally - my favorite thing to do is build Buyers Lists.

That is....build a list with people who purchase products from you. This way you have already pre-screened your subscriber because you KNOW they have spent money....and most likely will continue to do so. So launching products on different platforms, driving traffic to them and building lists with your new customers is the best list (in my humble opinion) that you can build.

It has been my experience that a buyers list of 200 people will outperform a solo-ad or junk traffic email list of 5,000 people.

Trial and error is always the best learning measure though. Get out there and just get your hands messy and see what works best for you!

To build a list of buyers - you'll need to create a product (whether it's your own or a PLR you buy and rehab). You then need to sell it in whatever manner you'd like i.e. Warrior Forum, Warrior Plus, JVZoo....etc.

As people buy your product, they'll automatically get added to your email list.

Without getting into major detail and creating a small PDF - I think that's a pretty consolidated explanation.

Yeah, building a list of buyers by selling your own product is an awesome way to build a list...

Especially when you can get others (affiliates) to help you do it.

I might go against the grain here but...

To build a buyers list the fastest way possible make a one dollar offer. Make a great product that over delivers in your niche and sell it for $1.

It's such a low barrier of entry that your conversion rates will be quite high.

IMHO never do click banking. You want to beat up your list and have them send you hate mail? That's a good way to do it.

To address the OP's Q. One way that so very few people do is Google's content network. I get good quality traffic for super cheap clicks and I can get pretty decent volume.
You need to be VERY good at testing though or you'll likely lose money.

If you're good at testing and tracking media buys can work really well. Get your banners and ads placed above the fold only and only on the exact sites you pick.

The only way to build a list in my opinion is through solo ads. Create a product or grab a plr. Get a simple squeeze page that converts. optimize your funnel so that it generates revenue as your optins come thru. Know your numbers.

If you you do this right your solos ad purchases will pay for themselves. Re-invest your profits, then rinse and repeat.

This process is fast and inexpensive. The snowball effect will take place and your list will skyrocket.

Thanks for the info on Google's Content Network.

That was one of my biggest roadblocks. I can build website/squeeze pages in my sleep and make them look very inviting, but then what?

I think that FB ads, adsense are all well and good, but they are limiting and can be expensive.

So having one or more options to use to build a list is great information.

I've created 2 WSOs in the past with minimal response. Maybe I should just do more.

There are some guys with 10s to 100s of thousands of people on their lists - they do JVZoo affiliate offers almost daily and make bank.

Having a list of 10k is not hard.
You build a great carrot (freebie).
Create and TEST your opt in form.
          Drive traffic
          Build a relationship 1ST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
          Then monetize.
          Continue to give value.
          Drive more traffic

          Pretty easy really.

I showed a friend how to use the content network and he is tearing it up in the survival/prepper niche.

You can do it, you just have to do one thing, get some results, test them, improve them and then scale up.

This is key before you start paying for any media; get your tracking in place before you start paying for solo ads/FB ads etc. as you need to be able to determine your opt-in rate PLUS your ROI to determine your average cost per customer.

Create a free offer that leads them to a low barrier purchase with possibly a further addon offer and use this to try to recoup any ad spend (effectively trying to get customers for "free").

Building a list isn't complicated; you just need to try to ensure you're getting the best bang for your buck.

I'm normally all about typical paid traffic (I like things that I can control and are scalable) but I'll just throw out something that hasn't been mentioned: guest and sponsored blog posts. Got some great ROI out of both.

I'm a very active blogger, so I really think that blogging is a great way to build your list. I suppose it's not lightning fast, though, because you do need to create content and do a lot of ground work, like visiting other blogs, guest blogging etc.

If you just want quick and fast, solo ads are good as it's been suggested, and certainly selling your own products is fantastic for getting a good buyer's list. But I think these things are greatly enhanced by being able to send people broadcasts to authoritative things you have on your blog site. It differentiates you from all the other "marketers" and builds true and deep KLT (know-like-trust). We're talking, now, about more than customers. We're talking about a loyal following (ie., repeat, repeat, repeat customers).

All the examples that have been giving are awesome examples of how to build your list and each method does work in its on unique way. What your most important question that you should ask yourself now is how fast do you want to build your list. You can build it slow or fast. Here is what I have found out about using each method and it depends on your source your using. This is my experience, when I have gone the route of building a fast list [solo ads] I tend to have more people unsubscribing from my list more frequently than if I build my list slow. In my experience of building my list slow, I notice I get more people signing up to my offer after a few emails from my auto responder and my unsubscribe is very low. This is just my personal experience I do not know if any of you guys reading this have a similar result. If you do I would love to hear your input. Thanks

    Hello
To create a list of buyers you need to create a product and sell it with all possible means at a low price in order to catch many customers, and while the customer buys will be added to your email list.

Lots of awesome info on here.

My best suggestion when starting out is to go with solo ads first.

They're one of the easiest, and fastest ways to get traffic.

My recommendation though would be not to send to affiliate offers first, but rather to create your own PLR products, and really put most of your effort into your sales page, and funnel.

Your copy is the most important part. What I would do to get an idea for copy would be to go to warrior plus, or jvzoo & look for products that convert really well that are similiar to what you created.

Then don't copy it word for word, but study it, make it your own, send traffic to it, optimize according to your results, and when you've got it down wash rinse & repeat.

Also youtube is doesn't hurt to tryout, and if you're pretty knowledgable already then do a WSO.

That's one of my favorite methods because it doesn't cost a lot, and most people on the warrior forum are more knowledgable to the value you provide rather than random newbies who don't even know how to setup a website.

In the end though figure out something that works for you which you like & stick with that.

    Hope this helps

    Hi piney94,
Another great way to build a buyers list is to offer your product to other creators to add as a bonus on their download page.

    Find upcoming launches.

    Create a complimenting product.

    Offer it as a bonus.

Send the clicks to your landing page.

Not everyone will accept them, but it is possible.

    cheers, Mal.

  • Hello piney94

Look for a niche that you are passionate about, create a quality ebook that you will give in return email address, capture via squeeze page and the list is made.
Sure, it takes time, not so immediate, but it will definitely be a target list.
