How good is my email popup to get subscribers?

Hey everybody. Been working on my site a little bit today and changed the design of the email popup that comes up when people visit the site to get subscribers. I think it looks pretty good myself and I spent a while trying to get it just right. I was just wondering if I could get some feedback on how it looks and if you have any other recommendations to get new subscribers. Thanks alot for checking it out and wish me luck

Looks great to me. I would change the text on the "submit" button. Instead of the long phrase, just say something like, "Click here to start your blogging journey now!" ... or something better than that stupid crap i just wrote lol.

Lol, Thanks for letting me know and I have updated it to look more like that. I also included my "Making Money Blogging" link in the success part last night, so hopefully it will work out good for me

Test! Run some traffic through it and see if you get any signups. My experience with creating websites is you need to be always testing things.

Something as simple as changing an image.

I've also learned that its not what I like but what works to get the viewers to take action.

Are you actually making money from that site?

JMO - "need bucks now"...does that describe YOU or the people who would visit you>?
Just putting up a lot of random affiliate links is not a sure way to "make muny" JMO

I've made a little bit with the site so far. It is only about 6 months old right now and it can take 1-2 years to really get much traffic from search engines though. Just been working on adding content and building up my traffic right now. I think that would probably describe almost everybody and I've just been trying to show them that you can make money blogging with a good niche, design and content. Had a pretty good response when I was advertising on Facebook too

This is just my viewpoint. The last authority is your prospects and customers O.k? But personally I hate 99% of those entry pop-ups. In fact, It's a strong reflex action of mine to immediately look for the x or close button on 99% of pop-ups I see.

Why? Because I've just come to your site, I don't know whether I want to sign up for your newsletter, email list or whatever your giving me. I came to read an article, check your site out or whatever brought me to your site.

Imagine coming to a site having something on the site that grabs your interest and hold it (not easy to do). But then this pop-up rudely stands in front of you, like a waving hand. It breaks my trance, my concentration and often my interest. Entry pop-ups force your prospects to make a instant decision - before they're ready. When that happens the answer is No 99.5% of the time, regardless of your content.

Plus, so many people have seen them. Most people have Entry Pop-up blindness and do like me, instantly look for the X to close it, so they can finish reading what brought them there.

        That's why I prefer 'Exit' pop-ups because ...
        • They're less intrusive, pressure or pushy.
        • They give your visitors a chance to examine your site, without the risk breaking their trance or concentration.
        • You instantly stand out because most marketers still blindly use Entry pop-ups. My guess is without even testing both to see which works best. Huge Mistake!
        • Exit pop-ups give your visitors maximum opportunity to become sold on the quality of your content before they have to make a decision. Entry pop-ups give them minimum and often no time to think. When that happens the answer is always No in most cases.
Note; These are just one persons viewpoint, based on my experience. Like I said you have to test and let your prospects be the final judge. . - Good Luck!

Thanks for letting me know and this sounds like a great idea to me. I went ahead and changed it a few minutes ago and really appreciate the heads up on this issue. Hopefully it will work out better this way and not annoy anybody

I was going to say the exact same thing- I think instant popups are rude and annoying. In fact, I've left several websites recently because of them (SportsAuthority.com just a few minutes ago, in fact); people who want to opt in don't need that kind of silliness thrown in their faces.

As others mentioned though, all you can do is test, test, test. I am personally against pop-ups but if it works, then run with it. Just know that for people like me, it's an automatic deal-breaker and we will go somewhere else instead.

I've gotten great results getting SIGN UPS using lightbox/popup wordpress plugin domains like PD

    The PROBLEM IS.........

My conversion rate for those who signed up is lower than REGULAR signups.

    Regular signups?

People who sign up through a text link or ad on the side.

I like Niche Man's exit pop suggestion. I have a high authority, high ranking blog that has no popups at all. It never did and (I think) it never will.

The key to blogging as I teach, is to have really high value content in a a very narrowly defined niche. Promote paid and free (lead magnets for subscribers) offers "natively"... that is, text links within your content, and only when it is highly relevant to the post where the links appear.

I actually do not advertise anything at all on my blog, except for my own products, my own membership site, and my optin offer.

I build a very strong and very responsive list in this way, but I really build very strong relationships with my readers.

I'm not a fan of selling a bunch of stuff with banners, and I don't think it's the best long term strategy for blogging. I know you can make a few dollars that way, but try to really focus on WHO you are writing for, what value you can offer them, and then do it.

I really wish you luck with this because I have a soft spot for my fellow bloggers, and like to help them in any way I could.

PS: the fact that you've put so much effort into your blog puts you light years ahead of many folks who just think about doing it, but never quite get to it.
