Start in the IM niche and build a list. Two good list building training programs I'd reccomend here are Greg Kononenko's List Building Course, or Steve Brown's 10K List Building course (only $7 for that one, by the way, but it's great).

    Both niche are good..

First thing you need to do is give a strong reason to your visitors why they should subscribe you.

Take time for this. How I do this? Search on Google.

Then, put optins in multiple places of your blog.

    01. Sidebar
    02. After post
    03. Popup
    05. Slide-in
    06. Footer bar

Use should invest some $$$ for this. Purchase an effective email subscriber plugin such as OptinMonster, Bloom, OptinSkin, etc.

The important thing is "do not annoy visitors readability".

Build targeted traffic to your blog.

    Instant Traffic Strategies:

    1. Social media marketing - especially Twitter. Join groups, be an active part of discussion, etc.
    2. PPC + other advertising - SMM aside, if you want instant traffic, you need to shell out bucks.

    Long-term Traffic Strategies:

    1. SEO.
    2. Content syndication.
    3. Guest blogging/posting.
    4. Article (directory) marketing.
    5. YouTube.
    6. Slideshare.
    7. Document sharing websites.
    8. Blogs created whose sole purpose is to promote another.

are the best methods to build traffic.

It may be require some more up front work but when I started out I setup an offer with a sales funnel...

A landing page which redirects the visitor directly to an offer and of course with one or two upsells and downsells in place.

And then just buy solo ads and send people to your landing page.

The reason this works for me is that once the offer is tweaked and you buy from a good vendor you should be able to recoup your money as you go, even if you just break even it allows you to reinvest the money as quickly as possible, especially if you have your own product simply because you do not have to wait months for commission, instead you get paid instantly.

    Hope this helps :-)

About that...do you use double optin with your solo ads though? I like to use double optin then an upsell and I've NEVER broke even with my solo ads.
