question about list segmenting

i'm completely new to segmenting. i'm using aweber. how does segmenting work? you send them to a squeeze page via your auto responder and they then re-enter their email on this new squeeze page? then obviously you can set up rules to take them off lists and what not....

but my main question is regarding entering a new list. do they have to enter their email address every time you want to segment them? seems like an annoyance if you already captured their email.

  • for example... if someone buys an offer that i am offering, is it possible to remove that person from the list outside of asking the person to enter their email and opt-in to another list?

There are many ways to employ list segmenting. If I'm not mistaken. Aweber has some helpful documentation on this topic.

  • brodel34,

First - my advice is to lose the attitude.

Most of us are sat here working and leave WF open either on another computer - as I'm doing right now - or on another tab or screen. Point being: we're all working.

You can't expect to have Frank run around aWeber for you digging up tutorials. He actually gave you solid advice.

He may not have the time to spend 30 minutes writing up a tutorial, but at least he told you what to do to learn.

You asked a bit of a silly question and Frank - probably quite shocked at it - wrote the first thing that came to mind. Probably what I would have said, too.

Anyway - for what it's worth: chill out a bit and see if you can find the answers on aWeber.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • Hi brodel34,

If you are offering your own product that you created, and you are selling on W+ or JVZoo, then the buyer will automatically add to your other list once they bought your product.

But if you are offering an affiliate product you promote, you have no choice but to have your buyer to sign up again to your other list. In W+ and JVZoo, it have a column for you to insert your buyers' squeeze page link while you getting your affiliate link. You may offer bonuses so that buyer would sign up. But not all buyer would sign up though...

Hope it helps, wish you all the best!

    • How could it possibly help when it doesn't at all address the questions he asked?

Oh, yeah, you think it helps YOU because you got your signature seen in another thread.

  • The easiest answer to your segmenting question is you need to have them sign up to a different squeeze page or opt-in form for every list you want to put them on.

One of the many question I see is if the people are already on my list, why do they need to opt-in again?

By having them signup again is to put them into another subniche, which will allow you to target your subscribers much better because they are on a list that you know they are interested in hearing more about a specific subniche.

It also allows you to put them into a completely different series of follow up email. It is important to not just consider your list as something you just broadcast to.

By having them sign up to a new list with a different squeeze page will give you more highly targeted lists and help to automate your promotions.

I personally have over 200 squeeze pages that I use to help segment my lists. Some of my smallest lists are the most profitable.

I hope this has been helpful,
    Steve Yakim

  • The only way to segment people using Aweber is to use AWProTools which lets you segment people when they click a link. Or link them to a squeeze page that they gotta re-opt in too so you can move them to a new list.

  • now we're getting somewhere. i appreciate the people on this forum who ACTUALLY help people instead of padding their post count.

Sure, as long as they all know that they wasted their time because you will never do anything with the information. Nothing. Ever. lol
