A better way to prospect for and engage new leads with email

Hey everyone, I originally posted this in the main forum, and then realized this existed, so I figured I'd ask you all as well. I am a web developer and had an idea for a new email marketing tool that I think would make searching for company decision makers and getting in touch with them much faster, easier, and less tedious. I wanted to get the community's opinion on it.

Here is the basic workflow for the app that I am thinking of:

1. User logs in to the application, and needs to find 100 companies in a certain industry, and the contact information of the owner of those companies.

2. They type in an industry, along with other search filters such as location, revenue, etc.

The app then goes out and finds different companies that meet the requirement, the contact information of a decision maker in that company, and compiles it all together in a table. The user could decide if they wanted to add the contact list to a certain group in the app, etc.

3. Then the user decides they need to send an email to each of these business owners. So they create an email template, and include certain placeholders (such as name, company, and 1 unique fact about the company) which are automatically filled in based on data entered for each contact. This way each email is unique and response rates are improved.

4. Next the app sends out all of these emails, and monitors them in real time for opens, clicks, etc. As soon as an email is opened, the app will send a notification to the user informing them that their email is being read. The user can then take any action they please, the main one I'm thinking of is calling the business owner as they are reading the email, and engaging them in a sales call.

And with that the process of prospecting for new clients is taken from a hours and hours to anywhere from just a few minutes to an hour depending on how much unique the emails are.

So what do you think? Useful? An improvement on current similar tools such as Tout? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated

If I were you, I would pick apart tout and figure out what they are missing.

You need to come up with a value proposition that completely blows away the competition.

You have to remember that slight or incremental improvements are not going to cut it in this current technological landscape.

You have to come up with something that truly comes out of left field.

I am not saying that you have to come up with something completely revolutionary.

After all, we can all agree that there is really no such thing as a completely new idea.

Completely new ideas are very rare.

They only come along once in a great while.

Instead, whatever changes you bring to the table must be at least visibly different and it seems that the process that you described is fairly standard.

It seems to be missing a particular element.

Honestly, you can do everything you mention by combining any lead finder program (I have a great one) with any one of numerous mail tracking services. It might be nice to have it all-in-one, but I don't feel that the way I work now is that oppressive.

      Cheers. - Frank
