Good question and answers! One tip I got was to put "re:" in the subject line.

Oh boy, there’s so much uncertainty to what it means a “good email”. If you surf the web just enough to drag some info yet don’t go crazy, you’ll get to read things like:

Use x words subject lines to grab attention. Use the recipient’s first name to make it more personal. Use emoticons in the subject line to catch the eye. Promise a benefit in the subject line. Write that little “Re:” to make it look like you’ve talked before. Use a number in the subject line. Make it look time sensitive. Make it intriguing…

Keep the email short and sweet. Focus on the recipient’s benefits, not on your product’s features. Use a story to identify with the reader. Use a graphic template. Use an incentive that stands out from a first glance. Write less, stick to the essential. Make it clear for the reader what he or she has to do and what will he or she get out of it.

Instead of all these, ask yourself: did your recipient really want to get this? If he wanted, put yourself in his or her shoes. What would make you buy for it? Tell yourself the most exciting and irresistible story. Identify one, significant benefit for the reader and make it clear. Keep it simple. If you don’t buy it, why would your reader buy it?

Content is definitely key - from your subject line to your body copy you want to entice your reader to open, click-through and convert. I'd suggest checking out the popular ESP and MA (and of course Clickback) for some helpful tips and guidelines found in their blogs! Hope that helps!

You have to ask yourself what you think the major problem your reader is currently facing. Let your email be directed towards a solution and don't make the email too long but if it's going to be link them to your website where u addressed the issue or u can make a small video talking about the solution, people prefer to watch a long video than read a long text but it all comes down to how interesting it is and also try to make your subject line have an element of curiosity to help increase open rates...

I think this is going to depend on the business that you are in and what your customer is looking for. Take a look at the age group you are working with and see if you are able to make something that will fit with them. There are a lot of different suggestions that you can go with on top of this such as:

Create a title that is catchy. This needs to be something that is going to attract the customer to look at your email. Imagine that the customer receives hundreds of emails each day. You need a title that is going to reach out to them and get them to click on you rather than the other emails that are inside your inbox. Some people think that a long title is the best, but I get annoyed when the whole title is not available on one line for me to glance out, so I would go with a shorter option for myself, but do what is best for your company.

After that, I would make sure to keep the paragraphs short and sweet. Emails sometimes have to be read on phones, tablets, and other small screens, if you have paragraphs that are pages long, the customer is going to become bored and they will not finish finding out the information that you are trying to send them. I would look into writing maybe two or three sentences at a time and then starting a new paragraph. This helps to separate out your information so it is easier to read and makes the email more attractive.

Subheadings are another thing that you need to consider with your emails. These help to separate out your thoughts and can provide some more interest to the reader. Add in a subheading at any time that it looks nice or fits with the information that is in your email.

All of the information that is in your email needs to be relevant to the consumer. Sending out a letter about how you went to the groomers for your dog is not that important, but telling them about some new IRS taxes when you are a law firm could add some value to your customers. You should also send out emails that remind previous customers that they used you in the past and that you would love to see them again or just to let customers know of some new sales that you are holding. Just make sure everything you are submitting has some sort of value for the customer.

Sometimes a nice story is going to work well for your business. People always love to hear a story and if you are able to tell a nice short one in your email that ties in nicely with the point, you are going to score big with the consumers. This needs to be kept on track though. It does not do you any good to write a long story and then just say something like “here’s our sale” and then be done.

Basically, you need to make sure that you are keeping the email short and to the point. Most of your readers do not have all day to read a lot of information on a page that is long and drawn out. They want to know the point and then move on with their lives. Keep this in mind and you can get a great start on your next email.

    Hello Seudo,

Here a few tips that were important for me,

-Google SEO for emails– copy and paste an email no longer works. Write prepared email swipes in your own words.

-Using free email services vs. domain name. Use a personalized email that builds trust.

-List scrubbing aka delete old emails. After 90 days if there was no click on your email, You safe a lot of money and your opening rates will get much better.

Best time to email? 8- 9 am Est; 3-4 pm EST; sunday to thursday, Friday after 12 pm EST and saturday are worst.

    Best Regards Charles

Test a few good email opening headlines and keep them in a swipe file.

Then imagine you are talking and write the "email" to a target person in your mind.

Don't directly copy other swipe and practise writing your own emails

    Email.

First, your subject line should be crafted to get people to click and read the email.

Next, learned that there are 3 types of email:

    1. Story
    2. Content
    3. Promotional

The guru I learned this from, and recently, uses combinations of these for different reasons which is so common sense when he explains it.

This guru states that the email is designed to get them to click on the links in the email and have them go to a sales page or VSL and let that sell them. The email should not be used to sell.

There are different lengths of emails and they all have different purposes, too!

    Short
    Medium
    Long

Of course you have to be aware of Spam words and characters, etc. There is a lot of advice on this. Using a Spam Checker helps. Sending an email to yourself to be sure that it doesn't go into Spam box is another way to chec, too..

This is just a rough overview of this course I bought.

If you would like the guru's name and the course, PM me. I make no money in anyway giving you his name and the name of the course. (Just thought I'd add that in.)

I want to share an interesting article regarding writing better emails, its bottom line is that you need to avoid words like "just" "hopefully" "sorry" "actually" to make your emails sound more confident
Sound more confident in emails by avoiding these... - Nster Business Blog

and here is another article from the same blog I like, quite a nice list of steps to follow when writing emails, it's as detailed as it can get, I would say

your content need to be simple, short, straight to the point, DO NOT write more than 100 words in a email, because your subscribers will skip that email.

but if you have alot of things to share with them, create a link on the email content itself, after that sent them to your blogpage or your facebook fanpage...

You can always checkout Frank Kern and some of his stuff that he freely shares. People like connecting with people nowadays, so send emails like your list is your best friend. Make it valuable so the next email they'll smile ear to ear knowing you have something great to show them.

Don't be pushy with products either, it's better to give them all the free stuff you can and when you run into a product you absolutely love, tell them about it! They'll be way more responsive this way than to shove sales letters down their throat.

As long as you stick to those guidelines any email you write is a good one
