Using email autoresponder without SSL on hosting plan

I do not have SSL on my hosting plan (unfortunately they do not even do shared SSL for windows hosting!) Does anyone know if there are risks and what those risks are if I send out auto responses and possibly even follow up emails without SSL? The email will be my own domain.

Before anyone says so... I will talk to the hosting company BUT I am throwing it out here first to see if I can get an impartial view (maybe that is a bit naive of me considering this is a marketing forum ). I will ask in a tech forum depending on what people say here.

One of the reasons I ask is because I am under the impression that the email would be secured anyway and that it is not related to the SSL on the site itself. I know that you are supposed to have SSL if you allow people to log into your site with FB and Google accounts etc.

I will probably at some point use Aweber (I used them few years back) but I do not have it yet and would rather not until some time in the future. For the time being I will simply send emails using my server. The possibility is that I would not bother with Aweber if it turns out to be simple. I am simply concerned because I do not have SSL on my web hosting plan yet.
