To Pop or Not To Pop

EMAIL MARKETING

Hi guys,
I have a question.

Is it good to have a pop up opt in box on my site?
Is the lightbox option better or a popunder opt in?

I know they can be annoying at times, especially when you are trying to read something. There are positive arguments for either side that I have read.

What do you guys think?
I'm still on the fence. But want to get off

I prefer the lightbox option!

At first, I didn't like the idea, but after testing... I get 4x more subscribers via lightbox than my main opt-in box.

Also, I only have my lightbox show up once. So, if someone views my site and opt-ins or hits the "x" button, then they'll never see the lightbox again on the device they used.

  Lightboxes can be annoying...but the fact is: they work. You only have to look at how major sites and marketers are all generating opt-ins to see that.
  
  You could (and should) test a lightbox against a sidebar opt-in and measure both opt-in rate and bounce rate to see how it affects both metrics. But in most cases, a lightbox is a good option.
  
  I would stay away from pop-unders completely though. They are far more intrusive and immediately make the user think of unwanted, spammy ads.
