What is a good FIRST Newsletter?

Hey Guys,

I'm selling a product in the Golf niche, and offering a physical product. We haven't launched to our 200 member list yet. What's a good initial strategy for this e-mail launch?

I'm using Aweber by the way.

Try to introduce yourself and your business in the first email that your potential customers know you and build trust to you.
I haven't experiences in the golf niche but try to give them someting valuable, maybe a coupon for the first order or so.
Try to keep them informed about what your golf equipment is and what you can recommend to buy.
Make a video or write a review about your golf equipment and share this with your list.

I also think a good initial strategy is to give away a coupon for the first order. I did that with a mail order business I ran several years ago. It worked so well, I did it for years and years, for every new customer.

I also offered discounts periodically to people that had ordered before. This strategy worked very, very well for physical products not in the make money online niche - which fits your business.

Also, you should have 2 lists in Aweber, 1 for people that haven't bought, 1 for customers. That way, you can send out different emails to different segments. This is not too difficult to set up if you're using PayPal. Aweber will add someone to your customers list and take them off the non-buyers list automatically. Talk to Aweber or watch their training and you'll learn how.

Aweber will integrate with other payment processors as well.
PM me and I can go into more details.

I try to build trust by introducing myself. My list seems to respond well to audio so I think I include a link to a podcast in there with some good free information. I want to get them in the habit of visiting my website.

What did you giveaway or promise to get them to join your list?

For the first few emails, agitate a problem related to the reason they initially signed up, give them some value (in the form of stories, entertainment, soft-teaching) - then pitch your product as the solution.

  • Publishing your Introduction Video for them to know you better & also promise something reasonable, fulfill your promise as soon as they signup is the best.

It would be better at first to send an introductory email. In this email, talk about your company and the products you are offering. After that, you can send promotional emails where you can also tell recipients about discounts and offers. Try to build trust among your customers to get long-term benefits.
