Big Email Template Question : Plain text or Graphics work better?

Over the years, many may have noticed that MNCs and many SMEs tend to send out newsletters / email in graphical form while smaller teams send out newsletters / emails in plain text.

What's your take on this?

1) Does plain text work better than graphic based emails? (the "view in browser if you can't see this" kind of email)

2) Have you tested both plain text and graphic based emails? Which worked better for you?

3) Or is it that both plain text and graphic based emails are equal, it's the title and content that counts?

Love to hear your thoughts

    I tried both versions before.

I found out that HTML Plain version works the best and get the most response. Graphics based sometimes distract people and still based on your industry.

You can do split test to see which performs best for you

I am a hardcore Inboxing Guy. Spent a few years to test different types of email and see which performs best and go into inbox is the most important. haha

Recently went into Self-Hosted with different SMTP to test again

Someone asked on another thread about "Inboxing." That's simply when your email reaches the subscriber's inbox?

Thanks Richard! Yes, agree that in IM plain works like magic. Graphics runs a bigger risk of getting un-subscribed if it's a field people are not used to. When selling electronics or clothes, graphics are the way to go

Good add both. Always test the email title and body on your email provider to send to a few of your own emails on different emails such as hotmail, gmail and the likes, see which one goes straight into the spam box and find out why. Some of the paid service email providers provide the spam test for subscribers.

Hi, it means different things on different platforms but basically it means "getting the mail into the mailbox". Some email providers are very strict about accepting emails from spammy looking address and there's a whole list of flag words that could treat an email as spam before it even reaches the inbox.

If 3000 of 5000 emails get tanked because of being treated as spam with keywords that get blocked in the email subject or body, another couple bounced, that hurts

Reaching the inbox has become an art valuable skill.

Thanks for expanding on that. Seems like just getting SEEN is a premium. Can you say opportunity?
