Any free e-mail marketing software?

Hi folks,

I was wondering if any of you are using any free, open source web based e-mail marketing tools out there? I am thinking like PHPlist, OpenEMM and so on where you just install and implement it up against your own SMTP servers and then you son't pay per e-mail you send.

What can you recommned?

Thanks,
J.

Free will never get you the features you would need to do a good job with your email marketing. Just my opinion.

I've read that Mailchimp is a free email marketing tool for your 1st 2000 subscribers. Haven't used it myself, though.

I've used Mail-chimp and its great for beginner. i did have bad experience with them. i always had problem logging in with them.

Your right 2000 free subscribers but it don't allow you to use the auto-responder unless your in a membership. I used it had bad experience and wouldn't recommend it.

if your serious and really building a list then go for a paid one like Aweber or Getresponse as they are amazing and i have never had any problem with them.

Yep....folks always say mailchimp is free up to 2K subscribers..and that is true...but few let folks know that you can't do an autoresponder sequence with it unless you pay....only broadcasts...

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what they called an autoresponder sequence in mailchimp (automation) before I realized I couldn't do it for free...lol

Wrong. MailChimp is a free autoresponder for your 1st 2000 subscribers, however it's meant to be used for sending unpromotional newsletters and they ban affiliate marketers straight away.

There used to be several free ones available (back in the dark ages of Internet marketing lol) but they weren't very good. The deliverability rates were low and they always contained paid ads from other people. And the down time of some of them was ridiculous!

So that being said, it's really best if you use a service that's reliable even though it will cost you a few bucks. It's well worth it.

Finding a good email marketing software can be a hassle, for real. I mean I have gone through tons of email marketing software and I don't think I've found the one I want yet. I advise that you test out as many as you can until you find what you need. Not all email marketing software programs are created equal. Which means that you can't put all your eggs in one basket.
These are the ones that I have tried over the past few years.

    Cakemail

CakeMail’s free email marketing service targets SMBs, and with a focus on simplicity, they’ve created an intuitive system that’s easy to pick up if you’re new to email marketing.

I like the fact that they offer a free plan with up to 2,000 contacts. Of course this can be comparable to mailchimp. But you can send out 12,000 emails per month which is more than enough to get the party started.

Even the paid plans are cheap if you ever need to upgrade, which you will if you ever become successfully with what you are doing. They were cool, the only thing I didn't like was that they include their logo in your emails templates, which SUCKS.
Active Trails is another I have tried, it was cool. I was only able to add 500 contacts and send out 2,000 emails per month.

Their paid plans are much higher, and I Didn't think they were even worth it. Not when you can get free email software online if you look right. I know blackmarket circle offers free email marketing software, which I use from time to time.

    MailChimp

Mailchimp is OKAY. They have some serious guidelines that they take seriously. So much so that I can't deal with them. I'm too open when it comes to my marketing tactics, I need flexibility. And they don't offer that for ME, not saying that they wouldn't offer it for you.

Just choose a email software that has what you need. Our needs aren't the same but make sure that it's flexible at least.

I would use an autoresponder service like Aweber or Get Response. They both have free one month trials and then pay around $20 a month for basic package that handles a list up to about 250 subscribers. Then just upgrade to higher packages as you grow your list. Free services rarely accommodate the volume or offer the advanced features that a online marketer needs.

Everything comes in a price, dont expect free stuff as in you wont know when the system one day will crash and you will lost all your contacts...

you can try aweber or getresponse, what i like for getresponse is that is easy and simple to use, they have 24 hours chat support where you can ask them for the problems that you encounter, and they will answer you on the spot.

The problems I have seen with Mailchimp is that if you use Gmail, your messages will end up in the promotions tab, even if your message is not promotional in nature. And like others have said here, you are not allowed to send affiliate marketing messages, which makes it difficult to promote your offers to your list. So, I would go with Aweber. It is good to try them now because they offer a thirty day free trial. They used to charge $1 for a one month trial. If you are serious about building your list, I would strongly suggest going with a paid service.

I think free email marketing is a myth. There is a price for everything.

Running a ESP , I can tell you costs are extremely high so no ESP will ever offer you free method.

If you go for your own setup, you have to invest from $250 to $2000 depending on how many IPs you want

So rather than looking for free options, get a ESP account and start building your list. Your list will pay for your ESP fee

I started off with Aweber and then later added Get Response as well, but from what I've seen, the Free autoresponders don't have the deliverability of those 2 I just mentioned, but both come with a Trial period.

If you can pay for your autoresponder with 1 product sale, it is well-worth the investment. You can create a free subscriber list just by reviewing other people's products on Youtube and putting your autoresponder link (hosted by them) underneath your video description without having a website at all.

Works like a charm and I do this on a weekly basis that brings in lots of targeted subscribers...You don't have to show your face either. You can use this free screenshare software that is awesome called Screencast-o-matic. There! Now, go get 'em! Kristie

For a while I was a tight-ass, and wouldn't commit to paying for an auto-responder.

Then someone said "If you're not prepared to pay the tiny amount hosting, a domain and an auto-responder costs... then are you really serious about internet marketing thang".

    And he was right.

It's next to no money, really, and if you're not prepared to put some skin in the game and commit a little what does that say about your mindset, commitment and self-belief.

There is NO such things as free lunch.

Eventually if you are serious about running a business you will gladly sacrifice a few bucks to have a reliable Email Service Provider.

I have done it since Day 1. And even when I was NOT making a full profit, I still paid for it.

      And NEVER regretted doing so

Better go with Featured service from mailchimp or benchmark

free is never free..well unless your time is worthless...

always remember to calculate in your time..updating software...ensuring that your ip addresses don't get blacklisted...keeping up on other stuff related to running your own email server..all takes time...

Where do you want to spend your time? creating products and selling stuff to your customers...or keeping a email server going....

    Try out this:
MailChimp - provides all of the usual tools for creating, managing, and tracking email campaigns. The best one!
iContact - The free version of iContact covers up to 500 subscribers and 2,000 total emails per month.
AWeber - doesn’t support mobile platforms and doesn’t host images on its own servers, but pretty chip.
GetResponse - solid, quick and simple. Extra plus - high qualified support team.

    Hi There,

I have heard listwire to be the best free one but the learning curve is a bit crazy for a newbie
All businesses require startup capital or they are not a business.
Think of the long term go with aweber or get responce as.

Why because if you don't like the free one and have built a list with it, to move that list to aweber or get responce requires your list to optin again and you will get a lot of unsubscribes
