Passive income in EM - what do you think?

Hi guys,

I just registered after a quick search on passive income and I've seen there is few people here who have an idea about it.

Here's the story

I received an offer on Linkedin to become affiliate of FreshMail. The guy told me they pay 33% percent of each transaction made by the recommended client of mine, which seems to be great, but the payment has to be made by invoice I should send to them every quarter. Does anyone have an experience in this matter? Company is based in UK, and I am from US, so it would be an international transfer. How much does it cost?

I'll appreciate your help.

So, you sell their product, they take all the money, then every quarter you have to ask for your share? I would stay far far away from that scam. There are many services that offer monthly payments with professional tracking. Go for a professional autoresponder affiliate program like aweber or get response

Not quite. They're offering a possibility for charging the clients directly (so in this case I would get the money first) but for me it is too much paperwork. I've checked the regulations and terms, and the company is quite known, so that's not the issue. My question was about the international bank transfer - is there anyone who can help me with it?

    Well, how about this:

The company is based in the UK and you're based in the US, so if the opposite party decides to not pay you, you have zero legal recourse, and you'll most likely--99.9999999999999% chance that you'll have to suck it up in the end and kiss that money goodbye.

So if they decide to not pay you, a bank transfer (that won't happen) would be the least of your worries.

    I'd listen to agmccall's advice.

Thank you, but still that was not my question.

By the way, are you familiar with affiliate marketing at all? Do you know how it usually works? I have a plenty of experience working in this field, so I do not worry about the payments - especially if it comes to the company that exists more than few years and has a good reputation.

So I assume none of you have any experience with the bank transfer? Thank you anyway.

Freshmail is a limited company and as such is a legal entity in its own right. If you do have problems with payments then you can sue it in the courts. It means they are less likely to take your money and disappear.

In the UK limited companies have to be registered at Companies House. If you wish to you can, for a very small fee, look them up and see their accounts. That way you can see if they are trading at a profit.

Many companies prefer working with limited companies because they have to be registered and have a legal status, and as such are much safer to deal with.

I am aware of that I always do my research. As I mentioned, this is not the issue here, but thank you anyway.
