Solo Ads - guidelines

I know there is no hard fast rule for solo ads but I'm new and here's my experience so far

I have paid .46 per lead and got no opt ins and no sales and I've paid .36 per lead for 100 leads, got 44 opt ins and 1 sale.

I have read that paying between .41 and .60 is about right so you can see from the above that I'm confused. My question is: do any of you have a guideline that you follow, is it just "hit or miss" or do you find a good seller and stick with them or several? I was referred to someone who charges $1.31 per lead with a guarantee but I'm a little leary to jump into something that expensive, but if any of you have had a good experience I would love to hear it.

Its .36 or 36 cents per click not lead! Your opt in is your lead! Is that what you mean?

Hey Im quite experienced purchasing solo ads
Im wondering are you not charged per click instead of per lead? Where are you buying your solos from? What niche is this?

    I would pay a maximum of 0.40 - 0.70 per OPTIN(MAX)

You are right to say "there is no hard fast rule for solo ads." Every market is different and every solo ad seller is different.

No, it definitely is not "hit or miss." If you follow that ill advised strategy you will go broke very quickly!

Once again, the oft-used phrase "test and track results" applies. Test different solo ad offers and track your results. It's all about the bottom line. Conversions to opt-ins and conversions to sales are the results you want to try to optimize.

Yes, it is a good tactic to find one or more (preferably the latter) good sellers and test their various lists.

Your worry about the cost per lead is somewhat misguided. Certainly you would gladly pay .75 per lead if you knew that lead would result in a sale. Right?

Sure, you should control your ad spend . . . but don't think that higher costs per lead automatically translates to a better lead - it doesn't. You should be more concerned with your conversion of a lead into a sale.

Let me mention just one other thing. You are concerned about finding good leads . . . but you have said nothing about making sure that your offer is optimized. Besides testing your solo ad vendors you should always test your offer. You will find that often a more compelling offer makes a bigger difference by far than varying advertising sources.

So test and track your offer and your lead provider. Both are very important to your success.

Thank you. Good points you make. My system has been tested and proven to convert - I just need to find some good, honest people to do solo ads for me. That's the only obstacle for me right now. Thanks again.

A lot of people are under the impression that all you have to do is find a seller, then order clicks and sit back and get great results.

Nothing could be farther from the truth. I learned the hard way when I started buying solo ads about two years ago. I learned first of all that there were a lot of scammers selling fake traffic, and second that not all solo sellers have the same quality of traffic.

Also, you need to have a highly optimized funnel if you expect to be able to break even or get a positive ROI on your solo ads. You need a squeeze page that will convert at 40% or better and you need an offer on the back end that will convert at 1%-2%.

If you do not have these things in place you will not get good results at all. The whole idea with a solo ad is to promote an offer which pays at least $75-$100 per sale. This way all you need to do is make one sale per 100 clicks to achieve a positive ROI. I also put a CPL offer offer on an exit pop off my squeeze page to bring in a few bucks and help me to at least break even on my solo buys. If you do not at least break even on your solo buys, you will find that it is an incredible expensive way to build your list, and your business probably will not be able to sustain it unless you have very deep pockets.

As for pricing, I have paid as little as .25 per click for great traffic, and I have paid as much as .75 per click for traffic that was not so good. I have found that all of the best sellers are in the Facebook groups. All of the top sellers that I now use on a regular basis were found there and not in solo ad marketplaces like Udimi. I found the sellers in solo ad marketplaces were not very good quality at all.

Now, once you get 15-20 good sellers you can just rotate your buys and basically stick with those same sellers. The problem is it can be costly to build a list of high quality sellers if you have to find them by trial and error. That's why I would advise anyone thinking of buying a solo to do their due diligence on potential sellers.

I would highly recommend buying solo ads from Udimi.com, even if nicheblogger75 says that he was not happy with the traffic that was purchased from there.
Let me tell you few very positive points about Udimi.
    1. Free of charge.
    2. Their filter filters all useless traffic (which means you not have to pay for the air)
    3. You can see sellers ratings (good and bad ones) before you order a solo.
    4. Payment protection. (money will be sent to the seller after all click delivered to you.

It`s better to try and see how it works for you and make your own mind about Udimi. But as for me it worked well so far.

I wouldn't pay for leads because that's not how this industry works. You pay on a per click basis i.e. 0.50cpc. Then say you purchase 100 clicks. You would then work out your overall conversion once those clicks have been delivered.

Since 2013 I have built up a decent connection of loyal traffic providers. You will hit and miss throughout your search. I've been scammed numerous times as well as paid out for poor results. You've got to be really careful these days. Even well known providers are mixing in bot clicks with genuine clicks to make the conversions look great and the real traffic to provide some engagement, but it's just BS...

At the end of the day, everyone is different. People react to different things even though it's targeted. Very rarely are you going to get an ad that is very specific to your offer. These day's most are sending broad (but relevant) emails in order to increase open rates and user engagement (clicks).
