How many times a day do you email your list?

Question in the title!

Has anyone experimented with how many times a day they email their list?

I read comments about emailing "too much" but if I really liked the marketer and enjoyed reading their emails, I would want to hear from them as often as possible.

I'm sure , as a consumer of information products and subscriber to blogs, that I wouldn't want to get more than 1-2 emails in my inbox from each marketer. Most people are subscribed to multiple lists so their inbox becomes inundated with messages to read.

After reading what I just wrote - maybe sending additional emails, such as reminders of a main email , throughout the day to keep your email at the top of their inbox would increase our conversions.

One of those things to experiment with !

I agree! Sending reminders for the main email makes sense, rather than confusing the customer with too much information or too many offers.

The best way for me is once in the morning and then another in the evening. This builds credibility and you also will catch people that didn't see the first email.

I normally email once per day however once a week depending on which followup they are on I do send a second email (usually a promo) about 4 hours after the content based email.

    Every. Damn. Day.

This may not be necessary in niches outside internet marketing. But in this space, if you email infrequently, people will forget you exist.

Yes, some will hate you for it. But it's better to be disliked by a few, than to be forgotten by many. At least, certainly when it comes to dollars and cents.

I NEVER do more than once a day

Everyday is definitely NOT a bad thing if you have a lot to offer.

But for me, at least, the law of diminishing returns kick in when you start emailing more than one a day

I am one of those that doesn't like being emailed every day, especially if you are on many people's lists (as many people here will be)!!!!!! And the reason for that is that over 90% of marketers are just pitching some affiliate offer or other crap and I unsub quickly and most people I know do exactly the same.

So if you are emailing every day you better make damned sure that you are providing VERY high quality content or you will just burn through your list and DAMAGE your profits!!

And this is very common in the IM space where it is all about the "list" and getting as many people onto it as possible but this is a flawed concept; you want a big buyer list, NOT a prospect list and the quickest way to turn a prospect off is to bombard them with crap every day!

The problem with many marketers is not how often they email, but that they didn't inform the subscriber.

Subscribers should be let known how often to expect an email landing in their inboxes. So when they sign up, they won't be surprised if they get an email a day or things like that. Basically, this way, you won't have many problems with people complaining about you emailing them too often.

REALLY depends on the niche, but if you've got content to share...SHARE IT!

Staying in front of them is key to them getting to know you and getting them to BUY from you!

Couldn't agree more....the first thing your subscribers should receive after opting into your list is a welcome email that would be telling them a few things about yourself/your business and also about your emailing behaviour. You should let them know beforehand how many times per week or even per day are you gonna be emailing them and why!

That way you 'll build a relation with your list almost immediately and they 're gonna love you for being transparent with them from the very beginning.

Email sending frequence isn't really a problem as long as you can justify it to your subscribers.

        hey,

Most people try and follow other people. Joe emails once a day, so Robert says ok I must email once a day. But hang on? different niches require different approaches and joe might have a lot more time than Robert does, so his able to do this.

PEOPLE should email there list when THEY figure out what's working best for THEM. Test by emailing your list on different days, times and frequency. I think that most IM would agree emailing multiple times a day is not the best approach.

The goal is engagement!! Find what works and what doesn't!!!

I monetize data and there always comes the point where I need to see how aggressively I can get away with promoting additional offers. I've always just used the stats and back off if anything becomes unacceptable. However, what is unacceptable to one, may be acceptable to another.

I believe than sending more than one message a day is a lot, i got people unsubscribing because of 2 emails in one day, reason being "too many emails"

Once a day might still be a lot, once every 2 or 3 days should be enough, in my opinion of course, it really depends on how good you relationship is with all your subscribers.

I try to limit it to once a day 5 to 7 days a week for my IM list unless I happen to send out a message with a broken link.

Anything more may prompt people to unsubscribe.

It also depends on who your subscribers are. If you purchased solo ads, those subscribers may be used to receiving lots of marketing emails.

But if you got highly targeted subscribers from say a Craigslist ad they may be more annoyed

Finally, I have one 8500 person list that is just average consumers interested in one thing that comes out weekly. If I were to email them more than 2 to 3 times a week I know From experience that I would not only be getting unsubscribes but complaints to my email provider.

As a consumer or potential customer, I'd say twice maybe three times a week. But you have to be sure you're not sending offer after offer. I like getting useful information I can use in addition to an offer that's suited to me. If a marketer keeps sending me to offers, I stop opening their emails or unsubscribe altogether. You can sniff out a greedy marketer easily Some of my favorite marketers market to me no more than 3x a week. That's digestible. I have one who emails me once a day but it's very actionable info that I can use.

It also depends on how much you've build up a relationship with your list. How you communicate with them in the beginning is crucial. Consider that too when emailing your list. I've bought the most from those who've offered the most value and I continue to buy from them.

I used to send 2 emails per day to my IM list, but I notice the responsiveness of that list usually decreases over time. That's why I switched to just 1 per day, and add some value + free content in some emails, and it's been working pretty well for me

Every day is a non-op for me, and I can't believe it's a regular practice here. Daily mail is more appropriate for mailing lists (email-discussion groups for us oldies). Never for anything else!

I usually email once per except when promoting an offer or sending a broadcast.

I have tested this over time and in various niches and find any less and responsiveness of the list is lowered and more than one per day unsubscibes are rife.

Usually what I would is either once every 2 days or every week depending on how useful your emails are.. If you are giving people emails that do not pertain to them, or do not benifet them in any way then you are sending pointless emails.. BUT if your information is desirable then I would go ahead and even do it once a day or even twice a day.

If you would really like to not worry about having to email your 7k + list everytime then you should really check out this website that I stumbled upon for email marketing.... its definitely one of those sites you must check out! I joined it a few years ago and they have really helped my business when it comes to the email marketing aspect... if you did not know 90% of your sales will be generated by your email list!

I do once a day for up to two weeks filled with content. I then spread it out to a few days between.

I might double up if I had a big product launch or big news but nothing set up just yet.

email your list 2 times per day...with the cycle of 3 promotional emails, 2 content email
when you send out the email first time, to your list... after that 12 hours later, send another email (same content but slight different sentence and title) to those that doesnt open your email.. because not all of them read emails at the same time... not to mention, you are not the only one that sent them emails....

This is one of the quickest ways to get unsubscribes!! IF you are emailing that frequently then it should be at LEAST 3 high value content driven emails to 1 promotion otherwise it is obvious to your potential customers that you don't really care that much!

That may sound harsh but put yourself in your customers shoes; if you keep hammering them with affiliate promotions you will burn through them quickly as they are probably getting the same crap from numerous other marketers too!

Dare to be different and actually give them value and they will appreciate it and become much more likely to buy in future. Think long term business, not fast buck which is unfortunately all too common in the IM niche.

I know this can work. And I think it is important to change the Title around some like you say

Because honestly when I get emails from people it makes me a little piss if I get the same exact duplicate email that I go 4 hours before( just because apparently I didn't open it the first time around)

I email my list every other day but everybody is different. How often you should email your list depends on the expectations you set when people signed up to your email list. If you told them to expect an email every day make sure you make do on that promise and email your list daily. If you told them to expect 1 email a week then do that. You get the point...

I find Tuesdays to be the best day to to send out newsletters, the reason being that Mondays are always hectic with people cleaning up their inboxes from all the spam they received from the weekend.
In saying that, I also have good results on Saturdays and Sundays, but very little through the middle of the week for some reason, don't know why?
Anyway, you just have to keep testing it for yourself and see what results you get.

There is definitely a limit to how many times you can send out e-mails. Most of the people get annoyed by it. You have to be really involved in the business to like and to read every possible e-mail you get. But of course it also depends on what kind of e-mails you send out and who your target group is.
