I personally use Aweber. I love it! They're super easy to use and always on top of their game!

They have a free 30-day trial version & afterwards it's 20/month for the first 500 subs and afterwards it scales up. You can just google Aweber pricing to see how much it'll be for your list.

I know a lot of people whom use Aweber & love it!

Its all personal preference though and most have a free 30-day trial so give it a run and let me know how it works for you!

Most of the reputable email marketing solutions will not allow you to import email contacts via CSV. Better ask the company before subscribing to it.

so if i have an organic list of 4,500 customers, i can't just upload them to an email marketing program such as aweber, mailchimp?

How large is your list.

You mentioned very large, that means you are going to upload list in millions?

If so Mailchimp and other responders are never going to allow that. Also, another factor is whether your list is double optin or single optin. Or did you purchase your list? These are important factors to consider. You may have to do some list cleaning before sending any offer to this group

You can use MailChimp, because It is free and autoresponder. so you can use it

I use get response - i check a lot of other email marketing service - aweber, mad mimi, mailchimp, host in my hosting domain mail server.
But after all - i love getresponse - they have the advanced features better then all (only my opinion)
For free - i suggest mailchimp - you get up to 2000 subs, but some limitation

Whichever platform you are using one humble suggestion is to validate your email list before your blast your campaigns. There are tools available which can remove the non existent email accounts, duplicates, spamtraps etc.

Aweber allows you to import lists. I've used them for many years and am happy with the custom service and reliablity and email deliverability.

I think both Aweber & Get Response are both great. If you aren't wanting to build landing pages for your list building then I highly suggest using get response because they have a bunch of prebuilt niche based landing pages you can tweak and use as your own. If you already have the landing pages you want, then it's a toss up if you ask me. I use them both and have come more familiar with Aweber just because I used them before I started Get Response. If you are looking for something easy and to the point you might want to try Aweber. They are a very solid platform and it's very easy to find what you are looking for inside. I think they still offer the first month for $1 and get response might be free for the first month. If I were you I would try them both out and see what you like the most about each and go from there. Hope this helps :-)
