Instead of giving away a free ebook for an opt in, lets say the first product I want to promote is an ebook on click bank.

This product has a video presentation as its sales page that gives a decent amount of info on the topic and gives away 1 unknown secret.

For my "freebie" can I use this video? For example, enter your email address to watch a 10 minute presentation that reveals 1 weird unknown tip on how to...... etc

Then in my first email I thank them for signing up and provide them with a link to the presentation.

Is doing this a good idea, or does not work that well?

Why couldn't you do this? I'm a little confused here. Obviously there's no law or rule against it. The prospect is seeking information and you are giving it to them, but only after they've jumped on your list. If that's what you're suggesting then there's nothing wrong here. It doesn't matter if that information happens to be in a sales video for a product.

Does this work in the sense that it makes money? I'm sure it can, but as far as giving you a definite answer; nobody can say without knowing all the details of your campaign, which isn't a good idea for you to give out, so I suggest you test it yourself.

    • Hi

I know this is something that can be done because I wrote a post about it in my blog. I wrote it after I stumbled across a simple bit of software that basically builds the squeeze page for you and so simplifies the whole process.

Of course the beauty of this process is if you don't have anything to give away, you can still build your list.

      Cheers
      Andy

(ps. The post is called 'The 10 Minute List Building Cheat' if you wanted to have a look at it)
