Is Email Marketing Dead and Can it Make You Money?

by campbelljof 46 replies
In today's world of overcrowded inboxes and spam filters, many businesses often wonder if email marketing is still worth the investment. Regardless of your industry, the right strategy and content can make the difference between mail being trashed or transformed into a profit.

    Of course!

As long as for every $1 you spend, you can make $2.

    Email marketing will never die.

It may change forms when email dies out. But that ain't happening anytime soon!!

Exactly what Brendan said. If you can put money in and make more money than you put in, it's all good.

I also second the opinion, Email Marketing is best form of engagement and conversion driver in business space. In consumer space social media may lead slightly or almost equally.

I love when people ask this question if email is dead.
Do you think your spambox would be flooded with messages if people are not making money?
There are plenty of guys making well over a million a month doing email marketing as their primary business.
When you stop getting spam in your mailboxes, then email marketing is likely dead.

When you Email someone about your products and services, does the person really read it? I don't think so. I have been doing Email ,marketing for my Ostomy Garments. It showed no profit. So I switched my tasks to social media and link building.

When you talk to someone and try to convince them to buy something, will it work? It depends on how good you are at it.

The same with email marketing, and the same with everything in this world, really. If you know how to do it, email marketing can be a goldmine. If you don't, it won't.

Email marketing will never be dead for as long as people still use it. Until video conferences serve as legit records of communication, I do not think email will ever phase out.

So can email marketing make you money? Yes and No. It really depends on your content and the personality of the person writing it. Email marketing is a form of attraction marketing; you sell but you don't appear to be selling. You share stories, you don't write sales letters, for example. In that way you don't come across as spammy.

And if the reader finds you interesting and relevant, and sees value in your content, most likely he'll stay subscribed to you. Credibility has to be earned for an email marketing campaign to be successful, and by successful I mean eventually closing sales.

Have you read the book by Gary Vaynerchuk? It may be about social media marketing but the principle remains the same. You jab, and you jab, and then jab again, before going for that right hook.

I visited an Email marketing company some days ago, and they opened my eyes.

WOW, email marketing is NOT dead at all.

They had a 30%-40% open rate and a 4%-10% CTR.

Less than 0,05% unsubscribers on each mail (1 per 2.000 emails)

Every day they are sending tens of thousands of emails to different niches.

    Their secret.

    1. TARGET TILL YOU DROP
    2. The emails look like very attractive web pages, full with interesting information.
    3. The ads? They are there, but you don't notice them, but you do click them

So again, email marketing is not death at all, if you take it to the next level.

      Hey there,

In my quick opinion I don't think email will ever die out. Email is just like regular mail. Some people don't even bother opening it up because it's "junk mail" and the same goes for email.

It may switch from email to something WAY in the future, but they concept of receiving letters from friends and companies will never die.

      LONG LIVE EMAIL!!!

Robert -- you are absolutely hilarious, and the humor is so dry that I've seen at LEAST 2 times now where you've been asked to please justify & explain your position! haha

Email marketing will die whenever humans stop valuing ALL communication with each other, because as someone already said it is merely a tool to do just that.

(Though when I see the horrible efforts that end up in my inbox I sometimes wonder how it can POSSIBLY survive all the attempts to absolutely murder it...!)

Email today has become one of the crucial tool as far as Online marketing is taken into considerations. One good thing with the emails is that they are specific and thus reaching possible clients one on one is very beneficial.

You can be able to custom newsletters for each email holder based on the username. Email marketing is also a cheaper type of marketing but very effective today. All you need to know however is avoid spamming the people's inboxes with the irrelevant emails. Make sure that everything you send is worth looking at. Having well designed emails are attractive to the air and will catch up the attention of the potential client.

We send the money email all the time - $50,000 dollars every time we hit send.
For example.. back in the day we used to call it list control today we call it recurring subscription payments. If anybody is ready to take control of their list, I have the correct product and opportunity for you, just send me a private message.

Thanks for your realize. But I think that email Marketing never can't die. Because Email marketing is the best system to promote the service. If we can build a huge real and live Email list, then we can earn more money only email sending or Business promotion.

  • Social media is still so public.. paper newsletters involve an incurring cost.. phone calls are big no-no.. face-to-face meetings are not always practically possible.. All that remains is email marketing, a great way to reach your readers, make them feel exclusive with niche and personalised respectful emails. So email marketing can never go out of fashion just like the cowboy hats and boots. I am fashion retailer; to save my time and energy on doing it all myself, after a brief research I hired an email marketing app called Ariticmail. You do your research and find out the one for you. Customize your emails, use attractive email templates, never be low on great content - offer a lot of useful and free information, set autoresponders, import email lists to reach more people, This is one of the best ways to get the cash flowing in the long run.

Email marketing is still valuable. The result oriented.
Email effortlessly integrates with other marketing strategies.
Think about how much relevant information an email can communicate:
    • It can alert someone when a webinar is about to start.
    • It can remind someone of an interesting social-media message.
    • It can inform someone about your latest post.
    • It can alert someone about an approaching deadline on an offer.
Email marketing offers the best return on investment ever.
Ultimately, email marketing is affordable, which means that, even if a campaign bombs, the marketer isn’t in trouble. In comparison, given their high spend, failed advertising campaigns using direct mail, print advertising, radio and TV can be disastrous.

It's easy to tap into the exponentially growing mobile market.
Without emails, it’d be nearly impossible for marketers to reach people when they’re not at their computers. People check their email on their cell phones and tablets at least once a day. SMS, by contrast, is not as popular. What’s more, texting may cost the user. It’s much harder to articulate a marketing message with a limited number of words.

    Customers like to stay informed.
Customers like to know about coupons, because they like to save money when they shop. In fact, coupons are what drive online sales (though they also increase in-store sales). Customers also tend to like email sequences that educate and engage them. Mini email courses from subject experts can pack a lot of good information, creating a great win-win for marketers and consumers.
