Mailchimp requires address

I don't want my subscribers to see my home address. How do get around this problem? I have no other addresses I can use.

    The only way is to rent a PO Box or like a third party service that gives a box with a physical address and use that. You once had the freedom to email with a physical address but they have regulated that away from you and more regulations are to come. I put the po box I'm sure that will be a crime in the future as well.

      I've just looked. It costs almost $200 a year to rent a PO Box from Royal Mail (around $150 for self-collection service). Any cheaper alternatives?

      Perhaps, I should just use a Wordpress plugin to send out the newsletter.

    You can't. If you're sending commercial email, you must comply with the CAN-SPAM laws.

    From the Federal Trade Commission's website:

    Tell recipients where you’re located. Your message must include your valid physical postal address. This can be your current street address, a post office box you’ve registered with the U.S. Postal Service, or a private mailbox you’ve registered with a commercial mail receiving agency established under Postal Service regulations.
    Those are your options.

      What do you mean by commercial email? Are regular blog posts considered commercial?

      If I do sign up for an address then do you if its possible to hide it from the subcribers at all times? I want to use the same address for all sites I use to build a list with.

      To comply with CAN-SPAM laws, you will still need to include a legitimate, physical address. Without doing this, you will be seriously in violation and open to prosecution. Do you want this to happen?

      $200 a year is expensive, here a small PO box costs just $35/quarter, but even $200 is inexpensive compared to prosecution.

      Can you avoid showing your address with this service? That's the key for me.

      Yes, I had it happen once, ten or more years ago, but it was unnerving nevertheless. That's the precise reason I rented a PO box the next day.

    Check out Access post online - service addresses from ScanMyPost as a cheaper mailing address. You don't actually received your post but a scan via email. Ok if you just need an address.

      Except for junk mail (domain scams, SEO offers, etc.), I can only remember getting one piece of postal mail in the last decade. That was from a parent who wanted me to remove their under-13 child from one of my lists.

      Back in my MLM days, I did have someone show up at my door. As Annie says, it can be unnerving.

      I've found that, in the USA at least, you can make a residential address look like a commercial address, and still get legitimate mail delivered.

      Use something like this:

      Company Name
      Attn: Your Name
      Suite #
      Your Address
      Your City, Your State, Your Zip

      The post office will ignore everything but your address, city, state and zip.

    Just go down to your local USP Store (or Mailbox Etc) and get a mailbox. They require a minimum 3-month lease. So your address will look like this:

    John Doe
    22 Main Street, SUITE 4
    Fake City, SC 29120

    The "Suite 4" will be YOUR mailbox. So anybody sending mail to Suite 4 at this UPS Store address, the mail will go to your mailbox there.

    In order to send commercial emails, you should add your address. Also, it makes your email compliant with CAN-SPAM laws. That's why all ESP ask your address to mention below the email / or in email footer.

    Further, if you wish not to mention your address, which you are not forced to add in email templates from using self-hosted application like Sendy, you can use Sendy installation and hosting service from EasySendy for this purpose.

    Here, you will have to connect Sendy with your Amazon SES / Mandrill gateway and start sending emails. Also, EasySendy team will help you with integration of Sendy and Amazon SES account.

    But, remember using this solution, your emails should not have bounce and spam rates, otherwise, Amazon SES service will block you from sending emails.

    Moreover, if you want to get another postal address, then, you can try using this service: virtualpostmail.com
