Ads In Email

by k9 4 replies
I am sending out mostly text emails. I don't really want to send offers. But I was thinking of putting some ads at the bottom of the emails to make some money. Does anyone have any suggestions. I hear you can't do this with google adsense.

I wouldn't do that, honestly. If you want to make money from your emails, either promote an offer directly or put a P.S. at the bottom with a link to something you think your subscribers might like.

What Michael said. It's better to incorporate your advertisements into the body of your email. you'll get a better response and offend fewer readers than by simply slapping on ads to the bottom.

You might borrow an idea from podcasting here. Maybe you could include a section/box in the middle of your message about how your email is sponsored by ...... Then your audience could see the sponsorship but not be totally offended by it.

Don't put ads in your emails for 2 reasons:

      1. They won't make you much money - you'll get much better returns promoting your own offer with a well though-out campaign rather than tacking ads on the bottom.

      2. You'll lose trust and authority, making your list less valuable to you in the future.

Why don't you want to send offers?

I assume you are doing this to make money and not as a hobby?

If someone is going to unsubscribe or lose any amount of trust in you because you sent them an offer, then you don't want those people on your list anyway and good riddance.

I've been doing this a long time and one thing I learned a long time ago, is not to be afraid of getting unsubscribes.

    Just my 2 cents.
