How long did it take you to build a list of 10k Subscribers?

I'm setting some new goals for the new year and one of which is to build a list of 10k subscribers within 3 months.

I know this has a lot to do with your landing page, offer, copy and traffic source but I was just curious to see how long it took you guys to build up a list of 10k subscribers and which traffic method you used?

    Hi Infoseeker, it took me just under over 18 months to get to my first 10K subscribers...

    ...that was back in 2008/2009 and I did it mainly through email adswaps.

    I wouldn't recommend that method anymore as the quality of adswaps/solo ads traffic has dropped dramatically.

      It’s not the size of the list that is most important but the responsiveness of the list. An email list of 500 buyers I worth ten times that of a 5000 freebie subscriber list.

      The answer to how long it will take to build a list of 10,000 is ‘How long is a piece of string.’ There is really no ball park figure for the question ‘How long will it take to build a list of 10k?’

      Obviously some will build lists faster than others and it is dependent on traffic and whether that traffic is free or paid traffic, quality content, a compelling offer and a high converting page and the time and effort involved in working, investment and testing among other things. I would like to give you a 'time frame' answer to the question but I just don't have one.

    Hi Info-seeker.

    It is one thing going big with your list and another having a "responsive" list.

    Depending on what CRM or auto-responder you are using charges it can pay to cull the numbers to minimise costs.

    There is no point in having a large list if it isn't converting.

    You need to pay attention to open rates, bounces and conversions.

    You may want to set a goal more related to the profitability than the size.

    Just my opinion.

    First you will have to get tens of thousands of people to visit your website.

    How will you achieve this?
