What do you think are the benefits of Email Marketing in a business? How about its disadvantages? Are there any?

Would love to know other marketers idea towards Email Marketing and how they are coping up with the current issues of spam and poor open rate and deliverability.

I would say the greatest benefit of email marketing for a business is that you get to sell or present your offer to your customers not only once but over and over again giving then enough time to make a buying decision thus an email list becomes like an asset to a business.

If done well, there are no downsides. I think the issue people run into is trying to automate it too much or trying to market to people who simply aren't interested. I find email marketing to be most effective to people who have already subscribed or asked for more information.

In my opinion, if you run any sort of business, building a subscriber base only of people who are interested in what you have to offer, and doing email marketing is easily the most important, if not then one of the most important things you can do for your business.

Not only do you get multiple opportunities to present what you're offering, you get to build a relationship with your list if you do your email marketing the right way. As we often hear, people buy from other people they know like and trust.

An email list literally is an asset.

It's interesting that you ask about disadvantages because I honestly think this is the first time I've actually tried to think of the disadvantages of email marketing for business. While there have got be some disadvantages, I quite frankly can't really come up with anything right off top of my head besides the fact that there's a cost to do it.

I think the cost depends on how you do it. There are some email marketing tools that are free but only got limited access. And to compare the cost to other means of advertising your product, Email Marketing is way cheaper than Google Ads. What do you think?

To quote from a reliable source, "Customers who receive Email Newsletters spend 82% more when they buy from the company"... and Email Marketing is the top advertising means that has the highest ROI at lesser cost.

I think that email marketing has many benefits! We often receive letters from the online stores for example, and this information is always deposited in our heads! But what I would like to add, firstly, emailing is not the way to spam people, which is sending people letters they don't want to read! It should give your clients something of value, that is just what your products and services do! But your letters should be sent more frequently than one time per month! In my opinion, email marketing is a good way to promote your product or even your whole business!

Email marketing helps people to communicate over email to a list of subscribers for sharing any information about their business. Moreover, email marketing helps to increase sales, helps with branding, building trust, keeping all the customers informed about all the necessary information. Talking about the disadvantages of email marketing, I would like to mention that it makes your computer networks opened for potential viruses and malware sent through email attachments.

I agree except to "sending frequently". The frequency in sending emails must depend on your products types. E-commerce company/websites MUST send emails like sales, promos and new arrivals of their products in a frequent manner.

However, the client MUST have the option how often they will receive the newsletter to avoid opt outs. Me, as a subscriber in an online clothing store, came to a point where I no longer want to receive promotional emails from them everyday. Instead, I set the sending in weekly manner. Good thing they had that option or I will be forced to unsubscribe.

On the contrary, companies who offer services must send bi-weekly or monthly newsletter to keep their customers updated in their company's event or issues. To make their customers feel their presence after buying their product/services.

Once you've make a connection with your client, you can simply switch them to buyers. Every visitor in your website is a probable buyer and the benefits of email marketing are that you can exchange them to real customers that will create the purchase. When they keep on to hear from you from regular email follow ups, they can get simplified with your website offers & will finally get the one they want from your business website.

    Advantages:

-Brand Awareness. Regular email marketing helps your customers and potential customers remember you’re there. Even if they do not open the email or follow its call to action, there is a good chance they will have seen it arrive in their inbox and that, alone, helps people recall your brand when they’re ready to make a buying decision.

-Demonstrate Awareness. Of course, you can use email marketing to blatantly advertise a special offer or a new product or service. But more than that, you can also use your content to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise. Sharing information and insights with your readers will help them see you as the ‘go to’ expert in your field.

-Email marketing campaigns can be developed and dispatched within a matter of minutes – not hours or days as is the case with printed mail-shots. This means you can quickly get an offer on the table or respond to a competitor’s marketing tactics.
-Build Relationships. Because your audience can opt in/opt out of receiving email marketing, you are better informed about who is genuinely interested in your products/services. This helps you create more targeted campaigns and build a dialogue around the topics they’re interested in.

    Disadvantages:

    - If you want to email your customer base, you need to receive permission from them. Even though you may have this permission, some people still consider any commercial email spam. If you send too many emails -- and "too many" varies by person -- you can give the customer a negative view of your company.

    - Your email may not reach its intended audience. For one thing, certain terms, such as "free" or "money" could trigger the spam filter, where your recipient may never see it. Other times, your email headline may not be enticing enough for the customer to open the email.

Would love to know other marketers idea towards Email Marketing and how they are coping up with the current issues of spam and poor open rate and deliverability.
Fact #1 - Without your own large opt-in email contact list you will have to pay through the nose for any sort of targeted traffic to your websites. Because I have my own large opt-in list, I can't remember the last time I had to pay for advertising to drive traffic to any of my sites.

Fact #2 - Without a large opt-in email contact list you have no way of building a relationship with your leads over time. It's a known fact that most people will not buy from you after only one exposure to your product or business...

So if you don't have a way for them to give you their email address so you can follow-up with them you are losing out on almost 99% of your sales. That means that 99% of your efforts are a waste of your time and money.

Fact #3 - Having a large and responsive opt-in email contact list is the ultimate protection against your competition. A competitor can quickly copy your product or come out with a better one... but the one thing a competitor cannot copy is your opt-in email contact list.

Fact #4 - With a large and responsive opt-in email contact list you don't have to worry about creating your own products (if you don't want to). Amateurs lose sleep over the product... Products are a dime a dozen. Savvy marketers focus on becoming masters at building massive high quality opt-in email lists FAST.

Fact #5 - Having a large and responsive opt-in email list allows you to basically write your own paycheck. Need a quick influx of cash... then simply send a special offer to your list.

It is the mailing to a large and responsive opt-in list that produces the most results, by far, in the quickest amount of time. You can publish an email message to your list on Friday morning and literally be producing sales by Friday afternoon.

    Now you've gotta like that!

Fact #6 - A large and responsive opt-in email list gives you power on the Internet. The person with the list makes all the rules. You will find people asking you to do joint ventures, give you their products for review and make all kinds of offers with very high commission rates just so you will indorse their products to your list.

Fact #7 - It is not hard to build a large and responsive opt-in list. Unfortunately there is not just one list building tactic you can use to build your list. List building takes many tactics working together and is what builds your list at a rapid pace.

However, non of these list building tactics are hard to implement. You just have to do them every day.

I hope this has been helpful,
    Steve Yakim

Lots of benefits of email marketing! As everyone said you are sending your messages to readers through the most personalised medium. If they already know you and your emails are warm, informative and interesting then you have hit the bull's eye. Just ensure to strike a good balance in your business motives and personalized ways of communicating. Downside only occurs when you send mass mailers without knowing your prospects and dont pay attention to spam rules. Thanks, Nathan, EasySendy Pro.

currenly the most effective way of any online business to make real money is with email campaigns
obviously you want that list to always be opt-in.
the main way to get your users to opt -in is to have a weekly newsletter and offer something that only people in the newsletter will get. not something stupid but worthwhile
because if the newsletter is no good , yoou will get alot of unsubscribers and people wont open your newsletter anymore
i see no downside to newsletters as long as you do not send out to many
