Event/Action-based autoresponder software

Hey,

I'm searching for software, no services like aweber or getresponse.

Bought arpReach but just had to find out it has no event-based autoresponder...

What this means is for example "send email x if user hasn't opened email y".

WordPress plugins would be okay but I prefer standalone software.

    Just one observation: from my understanding, the way the email software knows if an email was opened or not is by putting a 1x1 transparent pixel in the body of the email that when loads, triggers the email software to mark the email as open. But many email clients block images by default, meaning you can't accurately tell who opened or not, and therefore risk of sending the same email to some people twice.

    A better approach would be to make the condition "if clicked link(s)". If this happened, then obviously the email was opened and read.

    But I get what your problem is, and to be honest, I have no advice - just this small observation.

    Does arp reach have an API that something could be custom built?

    I know with aweber and getresponse that they have an option to manually send to users that didn't open and they have API's and would imagine something could be built.

    Hello,

    as Lucian has already stated, the tracking of opens is done by placing a 1x1 invisible pixel in the e-mail.

    This pixel is actually a PHP Script that is beeing called as soon as someone opens an email.

    This beeing said, this method is far from perfect, many e-mail clients block images from beeing loaded (or anything else).

    One reason might be that you are able to track a lot more then just the open by using Cookies in the right way.

    Anyway, what I want to say: Don't rely on any Mail-Open-Tracking that is offered by any tool :-)
    Click-Through tracking on the other hand works all the time and without errors

    I never buy email softwares. And this is why. I've bought them in the past. And tell EVERYONE to stay away from them. Such a huge muck around. Now you know why. Best to get subscribe to an autoresponder service. i've used most of them i recommend getresponse.

    Most users don't use an email client that doesn't open images. Oddly enough...I do use one most of the time.

    I have done exactly what the OP is asking about, in that any user that hasn't opened by a certain time point, then gets sent another message and I have never had a problem doing it.
