Landing Page --> Click Through OR Lead Generation (WHY NOT BOTH?)

14 replies
Hello everyone,

Just doing some reading online and this article came up and I just wanted to clarify that it is ok and I can in fact do both a click through and a lead generation landing page. So when a visitor clicks on my landing page they input their name and email and once they click submit they are redirected to my affiliate offer page. Is this ok or do they have to 'confirm via their email address' legally now-a-days? Thanks J

Here is that article:

    It is a common practice to have affiliate links on your thank you page. You probably do not want to bypass the thank you page and go directly to an affiliate offer. The thank you page is where you give instructions to your new subscriber to make sure your emails do not end up in spam folders.

    But it is totally up to you

    hi

    once somebody has subscribed
    and have inputted their email
    address redirect them to a bridge
    page where you have a video
    and thank them for optiin in and
    talk about yourself...

    underneath the video have a
    button redirecting them to
    your offer page..

    This way you will start to build a
    relationship with the subscriber
    and when you send them email
    follow ups their are more likely
    to open them...

    There is no legality issues here ,It is called single optin which is fine

    Another way is when you want your subs to confirm ,this way you will have a cleaner list
    but remember people are lazy and they may not confirm ,you will loose few leads here ,in short conversions will be low this is known as double optins

    It just depends on which route you wanna go

    Personally for me i go for a single optin unless i have created something of massive value
    and i only want to give it away to real people

    In single optin people may use fake email address to get the stuff you are giving ,
    as some of us are scared to give the correct email address as they forget in the process
    there is always a way to unsubscribe

    Hope this helps
    Let me know if you have any more questions

    Hey J, while you can redirect straight to an affiliate offer you'll want to make sure that you set their expectations for your follow-up first.

    As for confirming their email address, that's only if you're using the double opt-in setting (also known as confirmed opt-in).

    Sure you can redirect them to your affiliate offer straight away, but in this case landing page must be relevant to what you are offering on next page. I mean you cannot promise some free stuff when you redirect them to affiliate offer after.

    Or you can give away free product and on download page offer your affiliate offer, works great as well.

    Thanks a lot everyone that is a huge help! Ok so I'll go the single opt in route for a promise of my free newsletter and the redirected them to my intro page with video and then have the enter button under the video so the can go right to the website. Now that said. This isn't my product it's an affiliate product so I need to make sure they provide the free newsletter or free bonus, the page with the video and the link to the website as well as other affiliate tools such as banners. Any thoughts? Thanks! J

    Hello everyone, I'm still a little unsure as to what to do here. I have an affiliate program I want to market but I don't think they offer a landing page so do I have to build my own landing page? I think they provide banners as affiliate tools. I want to have a landing page so I can capture their email address and build my list. I'm just not sure if this is the way to go or should I just send them to the affiliate website with my unique URL and not worry about the list? How is it normally done by the successful marketers? Thanks J

    Hi everyone, so basically here are my three options with an affiliate program that I'm promoting. Could you give me some feedback if this is correct? Thanks J

    1. Ad --> Landing Page --> Single Opt In --> Free Give-A-Way --> Re-Direct To Affiliate Offer
    2. Ad --> Free Give-A-Way --> Re-Affiliate Offer
    3. Ad --> Affiliate Offer

    I'm a little unsure of the 'Ad' part too. So I'm needing to get banners from the vendor who's affiliate program I'm marketing? Do vendors provide me with landing pages?

    Thanks J

      Be very careful with any affiliate link redirects from landing pages when using Google ads.I speak from experience!

      If the affiliate destination page does not comply with Google's policies and procedures they will shut down your account and ask you to fix the page. As you dont own the destination page you cant correct it and your ad account will stay disabled.

      It is much better to get the leads and use a carefully crafted sequence of emails to build trust and market from your emails you send out as no ad network then has say over your links.

      Ad network providers like facebook and Google have changing policies and any infraction can cause your account to be suspended and this is an absolute pain to get resolved.

        Hi there, could you expand on this a little more please? So essentially your saying to have a double opt-in where your landing page has a place for the name and email of the visitor and then when they click submit the page "Thank you for subscribing please check your email for your free ebook!" Then they close that page down (not clicking through to the vendor AKA: Your unique affiliate link) and then they open up your unique affiliate link from their email?? Please confirm this is the process you meant.

        Thanks! J

    This will help to check the percentage of real and spam visitors. For a landing page, both are necessary But need to understand your customer behaviour before taking any major action on the website.

    I would really love to hear back about this as I'm just getting started with my campaign and the last thing I need is to have my PPC account shut down. Is there a way to find out if our vendor (affiliate) is running their website within the rules of the search engines? Thanks J
