Craigslist Auto reply

Hey,

I am posting ads on craigslist. I seem to be having a problem with responding to the ads.

I use gmail and want to reply to every email with the same response. Autoresponder and canned responses don't seem to be working. Gmail shows the response was sent, but it's not going out.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this or ideas for alternatives for auto responders?

  • There are not many auto responders that work well for Craigslist ads. Many people underestimate how sophisticated the Craigslist email filters are. These filters can detect when too many outgoing emails are being sent to their relay emails either from the same email account and/or using the same email template. In fact, they have now added a nasty Google captcha code to block any automated attempts to send out the same emails in their attempt to thwart spammers.

    So, what you need to do is vary the email accounts you use to send outgoing emails and also provide a lot of variety in the email content you send out. I would recommend not sending more than 10 outgoing emails daily from the same email account.

    • Maybe it would be easier to not use the email relay, and just have people respond to the actual email address? That way the craigslist email system can be avoided altogether.
  • And if you are going to do it, your going to need to create massive email responses using spintext and multiple accounts.
    You might want to have a programmer build something out for you like this.

  • Craigslist has better email filters now. Create more email to response them
  • A lot of respondents on Craigslist prefer to stay anonymous and don't want to be spammed, so they hide behind the CL relay emails. It's best to setup many email response templates and outgoing email accounts to mix it up to enable your outgoing emails to get past the CL email filters. I would recommend not sending more than 10 emails from the same account and vary the email templates as much as possible.
  • As was mentioned already, the email relay on Craigslist does its job very well. The key to this method is extracting real emails from the Craigslist emails, then sending your offer to the extracted emails directly using a mail service like Amazon SES or Mailchimp.

      I have heard and seen a very cryptic nasty Google captcha code that the Craigslist email filters send other auto-responders. How did you solve that captcha code because that was a show stopper for these other auto-responders.
