Email Marketing still works?

Just wondering if Email Marketing is still an effective way of marketing online? I myself don't really bother to open any unknown email, or they automatically go to spam. And I think most people do the same now a days because they all know about marketing emails.

Then what return you guys are getting from email marketing? Is it good?

It still works 100%. But it all depends on what happens before someone gives you their email, and afterwards.

If you have given the prospect good value upfront, if you have created a sense of trust beforehand, they will likely open your initial emails.

If you then provide excellent value in those emails (and not simply hard sell in them) then they are even more likely to continue opening those emails.

The relationship with your email prospects is absolutely key to having success.

On the other hand, give them a terrible free report, hard sell to them from email 1, and bombard them with daily emails, the prospect is very likely to unsubscribe and block your email address.

    I hope this helps!

Works fine but if you target your own customer base + offer affiliate program to them- let your base work for you.

I also don't think that daily emails are effective. Most clients find it annoying to get daily emails. An average of 2-3 times per month is the best frequency for me (at most once a week).

It works but open rates are going down it seems. But considering that your other option is to send your traffic directly to a sales page (this method only converts 1%-2% into sales), you are still going to get a higher ROI if you send your traffic to a squeeze page, build a trusting relationship with them, and then try to promote products that help them as a way to make an income.

  • Yes it does but it requires a good strategy to improve the conversion of an email series. For one, it should have good value to the subscriber, even after they opted into the list. Most of the crucial steps usually happen after the subscriber downloads the freebies, and there is no follow-up of an interesting subject or content to keep the interest flowing.

Trust is important, as well as offering them good value from time to time. One of my favorite email marketing strategy is that of Mindvalley. Pretty interesting and of great value, I always open my emails coming from them.

      This.

Providing value is the key to running a successful email campaign.

If you don't provide value in every single email you send, then people will stop reading your emails.

Well you don't open the emails but there are a lot of newbies that require help and tips, or want to know what's new and what products are released.

Big products launched on sites like JVZoo make 5 figures in a few days. They do this with the help of affiliates which promote the offers to their email lists.

So unless they became illegal (though people are subscribed and willing to receive the emails) or services like Gmail block all broadcasts I don't see email going away soon.

  • Email is more alive then ever in my opinion.

The only people that will be opening your emails are the people that actually care about you and are waiting for their email.

When you get someone on a list it's because you've done something that they like, want, or are seeking.

Thus, any emails they see come from you "assuming you're providing massive value" they will be eager to open.

As it was said in a previous response it's all about what you do before and after the email is acquired.

There are three different types of emails that have worked great for me that I send to my list on a daily basis.

    #1 Content Type (how to..etc.)
    #2 Promotional (selling something)
#3 Relationship building (get them into your life through print)

Good Luck and YES GO WITH EMAIL MARKETING IT'S A GOLDMINE!

These are great email templates to use in autoresponders (if you want to increase the autoresponse email to a month).

I would use it in this way:

      Week 01: 3, 1, 2
      Week 02: 3, 2,
      Week 03: 3, 1, 2
      Week 04: 3, 2

Rinse and repeat I know I will

E-mail marketing is still the most effective form of marketing when DONE RIGHT. An e-mail is nothing if the user is not engaged, is not interested in your product, and doesn't open your e-mails. I know of several companies that I subscribe to and when they send me e-mails I HAVE TO open their emails and read more, they're that good! But 95% of the e-mails I get from marketers I unsubscribe from...

It definitely works. It all depends on the relationship you have with your list. If you give them value, then they will open your emails. Never use low quality stuff or blindly copy PLR content.

    It's still effective!

You mentioned that when you check your email, that you don't open mail from someone you don't know or it goes to spam. But you are checking your email and as long as people continue to check their mail, it will remain effective. It just comes down to how effective. Which is going to vary based on list size, strategies, deliverability and costs(acquisition/sending).

For some marketers it's not going to work and for others, it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think open rates are in decline. Where I used to get 30-50 percent opens, I'm now getting 10-20 percent. But sales are still good.

Better than sales, though, IMHO, is the trust you build with your audience. Remember, they signed up. If you deliver good content to them, they will respond to any offer you make.

Email is still the best means of permission-based marketing.

Email marketing has some significant benefits compared to most other marketing methods:

High reach- When you get people to join your e-mail list, you can actually reach them. If they just like your Facebook page, for example, it is quite unlikely that they actually see your up-dates. Sure, not everyone opens your emails, but the numbers are usually still in favor of email compared to other communication methods.

Great flexibility: Email marketing can work for pretty much any kind of business. you can get lots of sales as long as you use the right email marketing strategy in the right place. And you can promote practically anything relating to your business you are not limited to sending links to your sales pages.

Email marketing still works great. One important thing to keep in mind is that more and more people are reading their emails on their phones and tablets. Emails need to be responsive layouts (adjust to the size of their screen)

I've read that over half of all emails are opened on a mobile device so if you’re not optimized for mobile devices, you will lose countless opportunities to connect with your audience.

There are many responsive email templates available or you can create your own. Make sure to take into consideration the size of the text, having click-able and responsive buttons, smaller images, etc.

With regards to your bolded text...
    • Only because we don't do something - it doesn't mean the prospects/customers don't either. This type of thinking can also be dangerous. Especially when it comes to marketing. Marketing, especially email marketing is all about testing, testing and more testing!
    • If we 'always' assume that just because we don't do something, then the prospects won't either - then we end up not doing much testing and accept low open rates, low click-through rate and low opt-in rates etc as the norm... Which is of course not great for commission/sales!

Back to answer your question - is email marketing is still an effective way of marketing online?

    The answer is ABSOLUTELY!

Email marketing's ROI simply destroys any other forms of marketing (on average).

According to a report done by the consultancy firm McKinsey, email marketing is 40 times more effective than Facebook and Twitter. That is actually ridiculous.

Technology is changing and improving at a ridiculous pace. Email marketing is no different.

Here's a few changes that occurred in the past few years that have affected email marketing in a big way:
    1. You should no longer copy and paste email swipes. Evergreen and new product launches will typically share email swipes with their affiliates. You are then 'recommended' to send out those email swipes to your list. What happens is when you get 100 affiliates promoting the same product, and 90 of them are sending out the exact emails to millions of subscribers... Then Gmail will begin to mark those emails as spam. SOLUTION: use the swipes as a guide and re-write them so it makes sense to your subscribers. Remember your subscribers are people with emotions, problems and goals. So build a relationship and look after your subscribers. And in return they will look after you!
    1. Delete inactive users after 90 days! You may have worked hard to build your email list. But if a subscriber hasn't opened your email for at least 3 months - then the chance of them opening another email from you is almost non-existent. Having these type of subscribers on your list hurt your email deliverability (a lot).
    1. Don't use a free email service like gmail or yahoo to send out your emails. This is email marketing 101. But some marketers are still making this mistake. Always use your own domain name to send out emails. So instead of your subscribers seeing 'name@gmail.com' in the 'From' field, they should see 'name@yourdomain.com' in the 'From' field. This helps to get your emails delivered and builds credibility. (Most spammers use name@gmail/com to send emails)

An overly long post, but I hope it helps to explain why email marketing is still worth your time in 2016. Good luck!

Email marketing is especially popular because it can be much cheaper than traditional mail marketing. Email marketing is the advertisement of a product, service, or brand through electronic mail. Email marketing can be used to improve the relationship between a business and its customers or to gain new customers.

Stats say that email marketing is still one of the highest performing ROI channels. Higher than social media.

There are a couple of things to be aware of:
    1. Make sure you are building a real list. Buying lists is rarely effective.

    2. Build the relationship and trust with your audience, by creating content that ADDS VALUE to your audience.

    3. Don’t always try to SELL SELL SELL! This rarely works. See above.

    4. Make your email list feel special. After all they took the time to give you their email address, give them something back. Early access, additional value on a product, things like that.

    5. Don’t be boring and simply send out 10% offer codes, people will soon lose.

    Hope this helps.

Google Adsense can stop you suddenly, ban you with no reason.

Fb ads can ban you with less reason than adsense.

Selling cold is terrible and have a low conversion rate.

You cannot just start emailing random people about your product or business to gain attention. Best way is to spread the word about your business site through social media sources like facebook, pinterest, twitter etc.You can also put up sales ads or limited time offers on your merchandize to drive the traffic on your site. After that incorporate gated assets on your site e.g offering free ebook, access to weekly fashion catalogues etc . But make sure to put up a condition for a visitor to sign up through his/her email address to receive these free assets. Through this you will know that the user has intentionally signed up to receive emails from you. After that regularly email your clients with different offers to bump your sales.

    cheers

Email marketing do has a potential in the field of marketing and creating product awareness. But while sending the mail it is essential to target the audiences based on interests and other essential factors.
Through mail chimp it is effective to sent customized mail that surely help in reaching customer in a best possible way. Essential strategies need to undertake in order to lower the bounce rate.
Converting the customer to sales page of your website is not that easy and the percentage my drops if there is any presence of Spam content.

So to provide effective email campaigns few essential aspects that need to consider are
    1. Developing effective and optimized content for email campaigns
    2. To promote it is essential to target customers based on objective, interest, hobbies etc
    3. Maintain effective customer engagement steps and strategies to build up proper relationships

Definately, it works 100%, Especially for eCommerce website it is boon. From signup (welcome) mail to cart abandonment, you can send mail. It is one of the rare marketing medium by which you can bring back your not active customers. Customers who made a purchase but now are in the sleeping mode. Obviously, you need a email campaign strategy to achieve this feat.

My point it, this is one medium of marketing and very effective one. If you ignore this, it simply means you are compromising with profitability.

Email Marketing DOES work 100%. And EVERY business should consider getting into email marketing, since as a lot of the guys above said: It is an asset that you build and that you can use over and over again as a traffic source (until they unsubscribe). I agree that I would bother either to open emails from unknown people. And I also do agree that others don't do it either, especially in the Internet Marketing space, people are usually on like 10-20+ lists... they get smashed by emails.

Now YOUR challenge is to grab your readers attention from day 1 and keep it. Actually right of the bat on the thank you page... but people seem to get it wrong. That's why the usual: Opt-in page -> Straight to affiliate offer or Opt-In Page -> Thank You Page -> Link Straight to the offer is somewhat not the right long term way. It's the same as everyone else is doing, nothing special. They opt in for the freebie, see an offer, might not be interested and depending on the first email and the freebie they will keep opening your emails.

Email marketing is not as easy as it seems and as easy as some "Gooroos" are saying... but it definitely is working!

But Igor Kheifets, who's pretty big in email business, advises otherwise. He said when he was providing value to the list he was loosing money. Apparently, now from the day one, he is pushing for sales, sales and more sales.

Both. Here's the thing - you can go broke while giving your subscribers the best content on the planet. Until you actually send them offers to buy stuff you won't be making any sales.

A ton of folks (myself included for a long time) have given away their best information and come up short thinking that if they provide great value and sell "softly" their loyal readers will send them money.

        Wrong!

When you have something you want them to buy - say so! There's nothing wrong with that. The more offers you send, the more sales you'll make.

BUT -- at the same time, if all you're doing is hammering your list you'll churn through subscribers like Taylor Swift goes through boyfriends.

        Here's the balance you want...

Never mail your list about anything that you wouldn't want to hear about. Whether it's just great content or a great offer.

Don't hesitate to mail them when you have something awesome to sell and when you discover some new information that you think will help them.

As long as you have a reason to email them, do so.

That's why some marketers mail everyday and hardly lose any subscriber and why some mail once a month and can't hold onto more than a handful.

There's absolutely nothing wrong (and it won't hurt your subscriber count) if you sell from your very first email (in fact, sometimes it helps). The key is to make sure that your very first offer is actually something that really engages your audience.

The important thing is building a list that is interested in your product and then educating them and suggesting products that will help them. These can be affiliate products or products you control. Either way you want to be the most helpful person they know and act in a trustworthy matter by overdelivering and under promising

At least it works well for me currently. I got few sales here and there. I agree it is not that easy when I started out in the beginning because I have no idea what to do next. Therefore, researched have been done heavily on this topic.

Finally, through experience I can conclude that it is not difficult to get someone on my list but how to make them buy whatever I recommend that are the most challenging tasks. You need some tactics to make it work and this is unavoidable. I wish you all the best.

Email marketing is important because otherwise you would have to "old school" contact everyone one at a time via phone or text or something. Sometimes it is harder to get your message through, but if you are creative, set the system up correctly and deliver quality information you should still be fine

I don't believe it is dead at all!

It can be a great tool to nurture leads. Picture that you have a great product you want people to buy. You offer an opt-in form with a Freebie that is related to the greater product in some way. After they sign up for the Freebie with their email address, you now have your foot in the door because they have shown interest in the lesser product. Emails are the next step to opening that door in order to have them purchase your main product.
