Why Your Emails Need To Be Like Drug Hits

Have you ever done something wrong, but felt so good after doing it?

Yeah, that’s what a vice is.

A drug hit, that drink after work, that “bad for you” snack you indulged in, yup, those are all vices.

It’s that little bad thing you know you’re not supposed to be doing and, yet, there you are…doing it.

Why do you do it?

Because it is an instant release.

It’s an external factor that changes your state once you indulge.

Once you give in.

Hell, you might even want to stop, but only because you know it’s bad for you.

Damn, imagine if that stuff was actually good for you.

There’d be no reason to stop, right?

That’s how your writing should be.

The email inbox is a sacred place.

It’s cluttered, for sure, but the ones people look at, well, those things are special.

They’re special because they’re interesting.

They’re special because they entertain.

They’re special because they offer little “feel good” hits like that vice we were talking about earlier.

If you want to connect with people quickly then write to them.

The good news is that if they’re already on your list and they’re following you they’re already primed to your topic.

They’re already interested.

The funny thing is you don’t even have to do that much to give them that “hit.”

The secret is a simple formula.

Want to know what it is?

Ok, I’ll give it to you.

But…

Before I do, let me ask you a question.

How many hits does it take to get someone hooked?

Answer: All it takes is…

One….GOOD…Hit.

Then, that’s it.

Hooked!

And then it becomes the “vice” to go to because it offers IMMEDIATE gratification.

Just one good hit, that’s it.

Alright, so that formula you need to make your writing vice like:

1.Talk about a never ending topic of interest.
2.Give your opinion on the subject at hand
3.Tee them up to look out for more from you in the near future.

Now if that shit sounds basic…it is.

But that’s really the gist of it.

The value comes in two ways:

1.The topic is something they’re already interested in, but they just want to know what’s new.

2.They want your thoughts on the matter just to gauge their own feelings about it for some reason.

That’s how T.V. and Radio shows work.

They just feed you shit and commentators give you their opinions on it, usually.

It’s not rocket surgery.

Sometimes there is a live studio audience (which is a whole other psychological trick).

But that’s really it.

They usually talk about some salacious stuff that people are into and they know they’re into it because it’s the topic bait that people want to hear about.

It’s what they tune in for.

It’s why they’re there.

But that’s the basic underlying gist of how this stuff works.

Oh, by the way, ever wonder how those programs make money?

I think it’s obvious but maybe it’s not.

That model is how a lot of the subtler online marketers are doing it these days.

It appeals to me because it’s not so “beat you over the head” blatant sales pitchy.

It’s stealthier than that.

I like that model.

My email copywriting follows this format.

If you're not using email marketing in your business, you're leaving lots and lots of money on the table.

Hope this helped you in some way.
