Email List best practices

Hi, Im wondering for those who have actually made profits from your email list and have decent engagement, how soon after a subscriber opts in to your list do you send them a promotional/sales email? I saw a study that stated that you should send a sales/promotional email on the 14th day after they subscribed with informational emails sent every few days in between in order to build trust/rapport. Any advice on this? thanks

What I usually do is offer something for free to get them to opt in. I make it very short but also very helpful. When they give their email, I send them the download link along with a message that says "by the way, here's something else you might be interested in."

This can either be a low cost "tripwire" product I created myself, or even a CPA offer. Whatever the case it must be something that expands on the free offers main points. Otherwise it will be completely irrelevant and they will unsubscribe.

Yes, you should the trust and affiliation of a subscriber mature before bombarding him with sales pitches.
