Help. Big lists but no sales.

I have amassed about 14,000 subscribers in 5 different niches in under 9 months. I easily get between 80-120 new subscribers per day over the 5 niches. Nobody buys anything from me ever and I use the email swipes from the biggest offers online. I should easily be making over $100 a day and I can't even make that a week. I have no idea why I am promoting the offers on clickbank and making nothing using their swipes. Looking for someone to help me out. Thank you.

hey there you seem to be doing well and getting a lot of subscribers!

However, what a lot of us marketers are finding is CB is not converting well now especially through email.

The product has to be super perfect to even make a few sales!

    What are your open rates?

i have an interesting way of how i am getting most my subscribers. i use instagram and i have them text a certain phrase to a 5 digit code that adds them to my email list if they are interested in secrets to igniting their metabolism (weight loss). i either send them a free report on losing weight and jumpstarting their metabolism or a nutrition ebook on losing weight if they signed up threw a landing page. my emails sent out then promote weight loss products and give weight loss tips. i have read and watched almost every list building/email course i can find and it seems i am doing everything right. i am so frustrated.

they say a subscriber is worth $1 a month. mine are worth .05 cent a month.

*(This is my 2nd email to them the day after they sign up)

        Hi

Over the next few days I'll be sending you a lot of important
information to help you win the war against your weight, so
be sure to check your inbox every day and to mark my
        messages as 'important'.

Before we get started in earnest, though, I want you to do
something for me – and it's the hardest thing I'm EVER
going to ask you to do.

I want you to think about WHY you want to lose weight. Really
think long and hard about this one. What makes you want to
lose weight? What's your main motivator?

Is it because you don't like the reflection you see when you
        look in the mirror?

Is it because people give you a hard time for being overweight?

Do you have a closet full of clothes that no longer fit?

Are you in danger of developing (or have you already developed)
        diabetes?

Has your doctor told you you'd better lose X lbs PDQ
(pretty darn quickly) or you'll drop dead from a heart attack?

        Is there some other reason?

Think of the REAL reason – not some superfluous one like:
“I'm going to a wedding and I want to look good in the pictures.”

What's your LONG-TERM motivation for losing the weight and
keeping it off? This is not an easy question to answer, but you
MUST do it before you begin your weight loss program.

        Why?

Because this is going to be your MOTIVATION to lose the
weight. This the BENEFIT that's going to make all the hardship
worthwhile – your GOAL if you like.

Oh yes: It must be something YOU want. Losing weight is
something you must want to do for yourself.

When you've decided on the REAL reason, write it down and
display it prominently – the door of your refrigerator is a good
place. Look at it every day. This will help you to stay focused.

Once you've done that, get a head start by downloading my
fact-filled “Losing to Win” guide, click here, and start building
        a slimmer tomorrow, today.

Don't ask your subscribers to do the work for themselves. As much as they may want to lose weight, they won't do it. Your email should tell them the benefits they would gain by buying product A.

"Just think how you are going to look in ? weeks time if you choose to buy ?,
You are going to look younger, feel healthier, be more confident in beach wear, be more attractive to the opposite sex, have more energy etc etc"

          You get the point?

You are targeting a market, you need to target a niche within a market and be super relevant!

    Ok so the

    market is weight loss

but choose a niche for example women looking for six pack abs

or men over 30 looking for creatine pills.

Then your lead magnet and offer can all match up and be relevant.

this way you will match the message to market a lot better and make sales!

and also if your using generic swipe your conversions will be low

you need to be unique and market from a different perpective!

    • Use the ratio of 3 free value emails to one paid email or even more!

You keep saying you can't write. Well you have made several posts in this thread and guess what? It sure looks like you can write fine.

Keep the emails short and sweet. The purpose of the email is to get them to click a link. Get the reader off your email and onto a web page as fast as possible.

When people are reading emails they are in... Let's get the inbox empty as fast as I can mode.

Get them to a web page where they move into a... Let's actually read this mode.

    Hope that made sense.

And yes it seems you sure can write. Just use conversational writing in your emails.

Have you tested something different that CB?

Do you track URLs inside emails to see if they click? This is quite important.

If you get clicks start a solo ad service .

But yeah, I would try different offers, even Amazon. Also you might find related products and contact the creators and either propose them a paid promotion or ask for an affiliate link. Or create your own website and dropship from Amazon or China.

In my opinion, the problem is on the email swipes. Especially the ones provided by the vendor of the CB product. Probably your email list has seen the same email many times before, so try to be original.

I would also like to suggest you to change the way you write your emails. Incorporate an exciting email subject line, followed short and crisp email body. Add attractive templates and at last add a click to action button in your emails that will take your subscribers to the website page.

Hey there! I can see that you already have a base for your internet marketing business. To be honest, I had the exact same problem as you when i first started out. I created my own blog, i created free ebook giveaways, posted on forums, optimized for Google, but i just cant seem to get buyers instead i get LOADS of freebies who were there just for the free stuff. And that is when i came across paid advertisements. Paid advertisements is one of the most effective ways to get traffic very quickly.

But do note that there is a huge difference in normal traffic and QUALITY traffic when you are doing internet marketing. For myself, Facebook Ads and buying Solo Ads are my favorite ways of getting quality traffic in the quickest time.

    1. Facebook Ads

As you know, Facebook do have a large pool of audiences. But not only that, they have a large pool of data of their audiences as well. Therefore, it is especially for useful internet marketers when it comes to selecting QUALITY leads by targeting different audience with the demographics they provide in Facebook.

    2. Solo Ads

Another way which is my number 1 favorite, is buying Solo Ads. Solo Ads is basically sold on a per click basis. It is basically paying someone (an already successful internet marketer who already has a huge list) to send out an email to their list advertising your offer based on your selected niche you are currently doing. One of my favorite sites that I like to use to buy solo ads is through Udimi. It is something like a network and everything on this site has a feedback (something like eBay) to make sure you don't get ripped off from their previous buyers.

I have seen a huge improvement in my internet marketing business once I have used these tools to get traffic! Do not rely solely on free traffic because i can tell you truthfully here that you most likely would not get your ideal result in the time frame that you want. And this method is much more cost effective if you were to compare it with Google PPC where you are basically paying for potential customers to click on your ads. The concept here is the same but the difference is the QUALITY of audience that you are getting. You are literally targeting people who have already have their cards ready in their hands, someone who is willing to pay the price for something good.

Hope this works for you! Let me know. Cheers!

Can you see who clicked but didn't buy? Email them directly and ask them this:

"I saw that you clicked on the link to X product, but didn't buy. Just curious, what stopped you from buying?"

Ask this to everyone that clicks and didn't buy.

Start answering these objections in your emails.

OK! But how can you know who has bought from your link? As when a person click on the link they will be in vendor list, not your list.

        Thanks!
        I've posted about this before.

If the platform that you are using has a postback option (which most do) you can use it to get the email address of who converted.

I promote a lot of CPA offers and the most popular platform would be CAKE.

So in the offer url you have s1=&s2=&s3=, so in s2 you would add s2=emailaddress.

Where emailaddress is, you need to replace it with the token that your ESP/program that you send mail with uses for the emailadress of the user when the message is sent.

So for example with getresponse, you would use s2=[[email]] and getreposnse would replace [[email]] with the users email address

So when the message is sent it would be s2=user@domain.com

Then you would set up a postback script and specify it in the platform, so that each time a conversion happens, they send you the S2 info. Something like...http://somedomain.com/postback.php?somefieldname=#s2#

Where #s2# is, the network returns what you had for s2, which was the email address, what was entered in place of [[email]]....user@domain.com

Each platform is going to be slightly different, but as long as they have the ability that you can enter in the email, you can have it posted back when a conversion happens.

Instead of using a script you can also do it with third party tracking software.

You seem to be still missing something. You are NOT building a relationship with your email subscribers. Without the relationship you will be lucky to get a random sale here and there.

            Why should they trust you?
Do they know who you are and what you are about?
Have you told your subscribers your story?
Why are you the expert they should listen to and buy from?

What actionable content are you giving them for free in each email to get them to want to open and read your emails?

Just sending out sales emails does not cut it these days.

I use an alias in my emails. I am male and my pen name/alias is female. One of my lists is about weight loss for women. I know nothing about weight loss since I am actually trying to gain weight. I am no expert and do not have a woman's point of view. I do not have a story to tell them. Maybe that is my problem. I do however know that probably 95% of the people that do email marketing in the weight loss niche probably also know nothing about losing weight. They swipe articles or other email swipes or get a copyrighter. They are in the game to promote affiliate offers and make money.

From what I have read about email and affiliate marketing in the many books and websites I have visited, the guys that make the most money promote things they know nothing about, like dog training, weight loss and body building.

The ones making money take the time to research the niche enough so they can come across as an expert. They then build a relationship with their subscribers.

The way you want to go about it, is just not going to work. You have already proven this over and over.

You have to be willing to learn and you have to get the big red shiny button mentality out of your mind.

You have proven to yourself what does NOT work.

Now start learning and find what actually works for you.

              Precisely.

Prospects want to deal with friends, not salesmen.

It takes time to build a relationship - usually between
7 to 9 emails, say the experts.

People want to be helped, not sold to.

Which is why story emails work so well.

Stories touch the heart and have no whiff of hard-sell
              about them...

I feel your pain and frustration.

So much hard work, but little (so far) to show for it.

And yes, a lot of great advice in this thread.

Do you have any idea how much GOOD copywriters charge?

Besides, if you do hire one, they will not have a relationship with your list!

Are there website addresses and/or contact details with those testimonials?

If you're using swipe emails, no wonder, they'll see right through you. Do the the people writing those emails know the needs of the people on your list?

    Exactly!

Write more succinct emails (length is irrelevant) in YOUR OWN voice. The whole point of marketing through email is to build relationships with subscribers that is based on trust and you getting an understanding of what they want.

    eg:

==> 10,000 subscribers from inorganic lists are, as you have witnessed, worthless
==> 1000 subscribers develop trust in you over 3-6 months of you personally answering their questions through email, and then when you offer a $1000 3-month 1-2-1 deep level training, 10 of them invest

    nice huh?

Why not survey them, with another freebie for completing the survey.

I would look for 2 or 3 aims to the survey -

    1. To segment the list further - ie to focus down on tighter niches within what it is for

    2. To see if there is a particular help topic they want, within your niche.

    3. Be a bit radical - and see if they would be interested in another totally different niche but one that is of universal interest - eg MMO etc - again with an offer - if you get 10% wanting this, that convert at 10%, then at least you are making something. - Move these over to another list etc and start mailing that afresh

Another thing would be to use your lead gathering way to do other offers - maybe via a JV with someone? - Happy to talk on this further, as Insta was a market I'd like to capture.

For your weight loss list, you may want to try promoting whatever is the hot supplement and has a free trial +s&h. They can convert pretty well and typically pay decent.

For the past 16+ years, I have been monetizing purchase data (email) by promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers, because there is no credit card / purchase required. All a user has to do is fill out a form to complete an offer. So conversion rates are typically much higher than offers that require a purchase. Free signups for dating is also high converting free offer.

Maybe you want to rethink what type of lists you are building and build lists that are geared to promoting free offers.

i would think my email list would feel pretty swindled if I did that. those PPL sites like maxbounty sort of mislead the people entering their email addresses. It's sort of like a bait and switch isn't it? Those are like the "enter your email address to win a free iPhone" type scams aren't they? I tried using maxbounty and made very little.

Those are email submit offers and that's not what I was talking about. Also, I'm not talking about sending offers to your existing lists, as the verticals that you spoke of, aren't ones that would have PPL offers related to them. I was was saying if you are having good luck building lists, you may want to change the type of lists you are building.

Currently you are building lists that in order to make any money, you need to sell them something. However, you could build lists that are in verticals that have PPL offers and you could send lead generation offers as well.

        Something to think about.

            Niches...insurance, loans, education, dating, etc...

Maxbounty is a single cpa network.

When I say PPL, I am referring to PPL offers you can get from CPA networks. Doesn't have to be maxbounty.

    soutthills01,

Sounds like there is something very wrong. Using affiliate networks like Cickbank hardly ever work from my experience. They generally have 2-3 big clients that support their business and everyone else get's burned. I think you should hook up with a few direct merchants (I am sure I can or some others have some connections for you) or work with a more hands on Affiliate network like Jumbleberry or Oasis Ads (I can also make an intro).

    Best,

2 Buy Solo Ads with T1 traffic on Udimi as example.

3 Use email swipes that belongs to the author's of the product you are

I don't post often on WF, more of a reader, however I felt compelled to help because this is a very interesting problem.

We've done a ton of email marketing selling Clickbank products and despite what some are saying, it still works.

There is only one way to get the answer to your questions, and that's to ask your audience.

        Sign up to SurveyMonkey.

Send the survey to a cross section of your lists.

And be blunt. Don't be afraid. Ask them outright why they chose not to purchase any of the products you suggested.

You've got nothing to lose seeing as those lists are not generating revenue.

Give them a multiple choice answer.

        ie

        A. We didn't buy the offer because we didn't know or trust the sender.
        B. The offer was not relevant to my problem.
        C. The offer did not interest me.
        D. The offer was too expensive.
        E. The offer could not be seen or viewed correctly on my mobile.
        F. The offer was boring and did not interest me.
        G. I thought it was some kind of scam.
        H. Why should I buy anything from you, I don't even know you.
        I. Your emails bore me. I'll never buy from you.
        J. The offer did not seem credible.
        K. The claims in the offer seemed too good to be true.
        L. Perhaps if I know you better, I might buy something you recommend to me.

You can view all replies to your survey in your SurveyMonkey account. We use it a lot, its good.

I think this is the only way you'll ever get to the truth of the matter.

Once you know the root cause of the problem, you can fix it and make money from the steady stream of new subscribers you get every day.

Some people buy after 6 days, some after 6 weeks and some after 6 months. Different people take different time frames to build relationships.

Just don't be so quick to give up. Learn your craft.

The best thing you can do is send a broadcast email asking what they're struggling with and that you're there to help. You should get a lot of engagement.

I stick an email like that in the first week of my follow up series. Then you will know where people are at.

        And you will form relationships.

I have even had people ask about the products I was promoting. All you have to do is answer them and they'll buy.

They want to know you're real.

Some will unsubscribe if they find your emails boring. Be personal. Share stories and personal experiences.

Actually review the products you're pitching.

You have to get inside your subscribers mind and find out what keeps them up at night. Then you win them over with emotion, not logic.

Keep your emails short, informative and to the point.

If this is all too much just start a newsletter and put a "Sponsored by (ClickBank Product)" in every issue. It doesn't look so salesy that way and you're bound to get clicks sooner or later.

Then send out an offer every once in awhile.

If weight loss isn't your thing and you don't know much about it pick something where you do.

If you're trying to gain weight there are lots of muscle building programs on CB too. You can then relate to problems and solutions.

Here are my thoughts on this:

    1. Your subscriber source could be a problem.

If folks are coming from instagram they probably don't want to buy anything from you. Plus if a ClickBank site isn't optimized for mobile they won't buy from a phone but will wait to get to a computer.

    2. Segment that damn list.

Break it down into segments so it makes sense.

Think niche not market because what you are targeting is a market (weight loss)

    3. Stop using swipes.

You said you don't know anything about weight loss so why even enter the market in the first place.

Better off writing your own emails and not doing a swipe and hype job with them

    Hope that helps a bit,

    Isaiah

Thanks for the reply. The same people that are in Instagram on are Facebook. In fact like everyone on earth with a smartphone is one either one or both of those so I don't think my source is the issue. Segmenting my list is a great idea but I am not sure how much more I can segment it other than women who want to lose weight. Not only that, I have a paleo diet list, dog training list, bodybuilding and smoothie list so those are pretty segmented I think and I don't make any sales on those either.

How did you got those subscribers? Did they subscribed intentionally and confirmed their subscription? Or did you just bought some lists?

Are they expecting emails from you? Are they opening them? What are your Open and Clickthrough Rates?

Do you send a series of 4-5 emails regarding a certain product over the course of 1-2 weeks? Or just one email and expect sales?

How many clicks do you get on an usual promotion? Even with a GREAT product, if the subscribers don't trust you enough, you can barely get 1 sale out of 100 clicks (most of the times even less). That's CLICKS, not opens.

Oh...and one more IMPORTANT question...maybe the most important of all!

Where are your subscribers from? What countries?

If they are not from the US or Canada you are wasting your time promoting Clickbank products! So far I've got tens of thousands of clicks to CB products and 98% of the sales came from the US and Canada. If your subscribers are from India or other poor or developing countries, most people are not willing to pay 30$ or 40$ for an informational product! And even European countries with good salaries don't convert so well on Clickbank.

So if you want to make money from CB products, definitely focus on getting US and Canadian subscribers!

i email them multiple times a week and pitch normally one product per week. my open rates range from 35 % to 9%. i have a few different niches with different lists. i do everything all the email marketing experts say to do and i have Tier 1 traffic and still can't make sales. I should easily be making $100 or more every single day with an 18,000 person email list and 100 new subs per day.

  • From what i can see, you can try:

    1. Offering $19 tshirt or mug with your niche, this might convert well
    2. Email retargeting (those that open your email but dont click) on FB ads !

I would not go and do any surveys or anything. People are lazy and will not do it unless offered some kind of bribe.

Instead, I would start interacting with subscribers, like making webinar on a subject and talking to them directly. Then let them ask questions. That way you can gather all the information you need while building a relationship with your subscribers.

Realize, it is almost impossible to anyone on this forum to give you anything but generalized advise (because they don't know how exactly you do things to say anything specific) that you likely already heard hundred times from other sources.

Don't use swipes as is, soutthills01. Use them as baselines but edit them a bit to fit the unique needs/language of your subscribers. You have good open rates so it's safe to assume that they are real human beings that are interested in what you are saying.

Also, I would check on the traffic source. Some traffic sources, despite being massive and affordable, just aren't good at sending buying visitors, only lurkers and freebie seekers.

14,000 is a good sized list. Sounds like you are good at list building. I would use a survey to segment the list. Maybe even more than one survey. You could find more than one niche within your list. Now go make some money

its actually over 22,000 across a few different niches. how can asking them to answers questions segment them? they would have to sign up to a new list to be segmented would they not?

    Hi
You need to segment that list and you need to experiment on the email you are sending. I think the problem is there, it is not effective.

Try to figure out who on your list are interested in certain products (i.e. male "get ripped abs" vs. female "lean figure" weight loss) - who has clicked on the relevant links in the past? By dividing up your list and targeting these segments with relevant products, you may find you'll get better results.

You might also want to clean out those who haven't bought from you at all, or clicked on your emails for a long period of time, and acquire some more responsive, purchase-ready leads (through solo ads or swaps).

        Good luck.

also, how do i segment it technically speaking? i mean they would have to opt-in to another list in order to be removed from the one they are on, are they really going to fill out their email address again?

Shoot me an email. You can also pre-populate if the advertiser allows.

Sounds great. "Email" or PM here is cool.

There are a few core issues that are causing your offers not to convert.

                Sent one back.

You may also set up redirection to CPA offers, i.e. after a subscriber verifies email s/he gets redirected to a CPA page (after registration or subscribing, you get paid).. you may start with ViceOffers first, and then move on to bigger ad networks such as MaxBounty and PeerFly..

i am on maxbounty and have like 0 luck promoting anything on there either. i am trying everything, seems the only thing I'm really good at is list building. averaging about 90 leads per day but useless if i can't make any money.
