Stop buying email lists. Build up your own OPT-IN email assets.

It's becoming pretty outdated to use email lists that have been squeezed until the last drop by many internet marketers out there. Most of them go for an easy way by buying these lists which eventually end up as another spam. I think it's not the right and honest way to market your product. If you want credible and loyal customers you need to build up your own opt- in email lists. But what are opt-in email lists?

Well it is a list in which a visitor intentionally signs up to receive email regarding new updates about your brand. But how we can build up that list? Follow these tips to begin your quest to gain serious customers.

1. Start blogging:

It's an excellent gateway to show that you're legit and are honest with your business. Your content should be of the top notch quality and should be resourceful to attract readers that eventually force them to share your content with their friends and family. Also make sure that you incorporate social media sharing option so that your word could spread beyond the target audience.

2. Convert visitors into potential customers:

That's the cream fellas. You can attract people on your blog and they probably might end up liking your product or business proposal. But the question is that out of all these visitors how many are willing to open their wallets for you? Free stuff and services always go a long way and in this competitive internet marketing era you got to act like Santa. You can start by giving out free educational content like free e-books, webinars etc or connect them with your sales team to offer free consultation/quote. But to access these gated assets make sure that your site's visitors give up their email address.

3. Pay per click advertising in search engines:

It's a great way to capture some percentage of people who are using search engines to look for answers. Just use correct marketing keywords and make sure that your ad eventually leads to a targeted landing page. This will help you gain more opt-in leads.

4. Social media:

I think it's one of the best source out there. Advertise your merchandize on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. According to the recent statistics social network reaches around more than 80% of the total internet users. Therefore it's a gold mine. Dig deep!!

These were my two cents fellas. I would love to know about your personal experience on this topic.

Cheers-James

Yes. Stop buying email lists expecting to shortcut your way to making recurring income with a list. It just doesn't work or even if you make a small amount it won't last. It's not sustainable.

I know a guy who does blogging and Facebook. He posted some great content about Jack Ma's secret to success and the post went viral.. he's directed that traffic to a Facebook group which was 100 folks to now 25000 in 3 days.

What James is saying above might not be sexy but it works and if you provide really great content and it goes viral.. you can build that huge list really quickly.

The key word here is 'sustainable' which you just mentioned. You can only achieve consistent and loyal customers/visitors if your content is of high quality and speaks for itself. Shortcuts make you delusional and most of the time divert you from the original path.Anyways, thanks John for your contribution

It's indeed an excellent way to generate leads. One more thing that I have noticed among many successful youtube marketers is that they use Youtube cards and annotations on their videos. It's just like a pop up box which shows up at specific interval of the video. People have generated a lot of leads through this strategy. You can also incorporate this practice in your marketing plan. Good Luck.

Yeah sure why not. The process is pretty straightforward and you just need to follow these following steps:

          1. From your youtube channel select video manager.

          2. Choose the video on which you want to add cards and then select edit.

          3. Then from the top tab bar select ' Add cards'. Over here it will show you different categories.Choose whatever you think is feasible for you.

          4. Select create next to the type of card you selected.

          5. Enter the url from you want your viewers to be sent to when they click on the card.

6.You can edit the title of the card up to 30 characters and can aso adjust the start time for the card to show up on the video.

          7. After taking care of all these basics select Create Card.

          I hope it helps

There is nothing wrong with buying data, if you know how to monetize it. Have been doing it for over 16 years, so done right it can be very profitable / sustainable.

But it's not for everyone and for some, building an opt-in list would make more sense. It just depends on your monetization strategy, resources, etc...

I agree with you. Experience matters alot in this case especially when you're buying lists. It's a very hard job and requires good sources and links which comes after experience in the market. But for starters, building up opt-in lists can make the transition easy as well as sustainable.

Exactly. For starters without proper guidance, going directly for the lists can jeopardize your business plans.
